2:83 And remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now). wa iz akhaznaa meethaaqa banee israa'eela laa ta'budoona illallaaha ... 5:12 Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude." wa laqad akhazallaahu meethaaqa banee israa'eela wa ba'athnaa min humuthnay 'ashara naqeeban ... 5:32 On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. min ajli zaalika katabnaa 'alaa banee israa'eela annahu man qatala nafsan bi ghayri nafsin aw fasaadin fil ardhi fa kallama qatalan naasa jamee'an ... 7:138 We took the Children of Israel (with safety) across the sea. They came upon a people devoted entirely to some idols they had. They said: "O Moses! fashion for us a god like unto the gods they have." He said: "Surely ye are a people without knowledge. wa jaawaznaa bi banee israa'eelal bahra ... 26:197 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? awalam yakun lahum aayatan an ya'lamahu 'ulamaa'u banee israa'eel 27:76 Verily this Qur'an doth explain to the Children of Israel most of the matters in which they disagree. inna haazal qur'aana yaqussu 'alaa banee israa'eela aktharallazee hum feehi yakhtalifoon |
