AsalamAlayKum, When I was born my Dad mailed a letter back to his father with two names to choose from. Whichever my Grandfather decided from the 2 names, would be what I would be known through Life. One week...two weeks...three weeks... Three weeks without a name and finally the letter arrives in London from Bihar Colony in Sindh. But the name was not either of the two my mom and dad had narrowed it down to. My Grandfather told my dad I would be named: "Abul Hasnat". After his religious tutor. So..That was that. Less than three months later my grandfather was dead. He was 73 years old or so. But he left me with a cool unusual name that today is your word of the day. When I was old enough to understand I learned it meant 'one who does good deeds that get one into heaven.' Salam your bro' in T.O. ~ HiMY! ~ (My mother's mother didn't like the name Abul Hasnat. Said it was too complicated. She came up with Himy, pronounced Him-me.) |
