| President Witnesses Battle President Bush watched the Gulf War on CNN. But President Lincoln watched a battle IN PERSON. On July 12, 1864, Lincoln watched as Fort Stevens came under attack by the Confederate army. Lincoln watched the skirmish from a wall at the fort. It is doubtful his view was impeded as Lincoln stood 6'4. (To date,Lincoln remains the nation's tallest president.) -Travis Doster |
