| Purifying the heart is required to keep up the beauty of the soul. The beliefs and acts of worship in Islam are related to the process of purifying the heart. In the five obligatory prayers, wealth-purifying act of Zakat, in the sacrifices of Hajj- in all of them lies the seeds of purification of the heart. Thanks to the ceaseless Mercy of the creator. Such a period of training is Ramadan, despite these acts of worship, a separate month has been kept aside for making the task of purification easier. Training is required is required for the successful completion of any given task. Islam requires virtuous individuals to build an ideal society. Without purifying the individuals, it is impossible to build a healthy society. Man should come closer to Allah through the purification of the heart. Thus arises the need for Ramadan. The energy one derives out of the spiritual acts of this month will equip him until the rest of the year. For such a purpose is the spring of virtue- Ramadan. This is no coincidence that the Holy Quran, which aims nothing but the goodness of Mankind, was revealed during this month. Ramadan has in mind the total purification. The fast of stomach is only a part of it. The five senses should also be in fast. It is only then the in-depth saying of Prophet (saws) come into operation: " Know that there is a piece of flesh in man. When it becomes good, the entire man becomes good. When it becomes bad, the whole man becomes bad. That is Heart". In short, Ramadan is not a mere month. Nor is it a traditional lifeless custom. It is a culture within itself. A culture that disciplines life and keeps it on the right track. Whoever adopts this culture will succeed. Whoever neglected it will be astray. "Whoever shall purify the soul shall succeed, whoever weakens it shall fail". For a community that upholds Ramadan, there is reason to doubt or despair.
