cute nephew/niece stories

Assalamu alaikum,

You know, nieces and nephews are such a blessing.   So why don't we start sharing stories about them? Or stories of your own childhood if you don't have nieces and nephews yet?

My nephew , Omar the Cute, is only 22 months old. A smile is instantly brought to my face whenever I think of him (my brother lives in a different city, so we don't get to see the little one so often.)

Anyway, the funny thing about Omar is that he is not talking coherently yet :) His vocabulary is very limited.  However, he somehow managed to remember my name since he was 18 months old.  He calls me Mena :)  Anyone else in our family he calls 'Mama'! Whenever he calls on me, he says my name repetitively; Mena Mena Mena Mena Mena Mena ...at about a mile a minute.

The thing about kids that age is that subhanna Allah they are drawn to the sound of adhan (call for prayer). We switch on the TV  to Dubai satellite station when it is time for adhan al-fajr (about 8pm our time), and without fail Omar will stop fussing around to listen to it.

Fitrah, eh?

Wassalam

Assalamoalykum,

When my sister Intisar was little, for some reason she always wanted to sleep with me istead of with my parents. I was like no way, i like you, in fact I love you, but there's no way in the world that you are going to ruin my sleep during the nights. So I used to give her really mean looks and make scary faces at her which scared the daylights out of her. She would start wimpering and run to my parents, I love the way little kids run when they are toddlers! Have you seen ducks run? Thats how they run. Anyway, for some reason she would forget about it the next day and would insist on sleeping in my bed again and I would have to scare her again. Sometimes I even had to make scary noises because she was so stubborn! As she got older I started telling her Jinn stories and boy did she run out of the room! But during the day i showerd my love and affections on her constantly. She was the cutest little thing in the world. Wait, she wasn't a thing. I mean she was the cutest little girl in the world. I remember her very first word, which was Allah. That's when I really fell in love with my sis. and by the way that's the sis whom I taught how to fight.

Assalam,
I don't have any nephew/nieces.
But I do work in a Day Care and there are soooo
many cute kids who go there. I don't have any good stories, but my favorite kid is Tommy.
That boy is TOUGH!! He is 3 years old and a bit chubby and the most beautiful face!! He's gonna be a stud
when he grows up. This boy is made out of metal!!
One time he was running around the class room of
the day care. And he tripped and his head made a loud CLONK noise as it hit the hard floor. He just
got up,rubbed his head and smiled. And he just continued to play. Luckly he just got a bump and
nothing serious. I never heard him cry when he got hurt.
OOHH!! I love kids!!

Oh how i love kids masha-Allah and i loved reading those stories :) i am 22 and i have an almost 13 month old sister now, yes, big gap ... but i love her to bits masha-Allah ... naturally children do many things daily to amaze you and want you to want them keep on repeating them! maybe they get sick of us :) one of the things my sister does is sit on the floor on her bottom, then she kinda turns to the side, puts her hands on the ground next to her and does a kinda turn and sits on her bottom again ... so in the end she just goes around in a circle, sitting, then doing a turn and sitting next to where she was previously ... sometimes she goes fast too and loses her balance ... hehe ... one other thing she does while eating is that when she puts mouth in her food, she coughs [deliberately] so we can tell her "smallah" [not sure how to translate] ... so we tell her and she coughs again and we tell her again and if we DON'T tell her, she'll just keep eyeing us and coughing 'till we do!! lol ... incidentally, she's overseas with my mum and bro, gone one week now and won't be back till another 6 weeks [insha-Allah] *sniff*

At my forum I started a similar thread entitled:
Cute things Muslim Children Say ..

Because I work with little children all day at Islamic School, everyday is filled with cool moments.  Here is a glimpse..

There is a boy named Jamal in the Grade 1 class that I teach. He's 6 years old.

The boys were coloring cartoons of a muslim making wudu. Jamal came to me and showed me his coloring. Strange, one of the wudu guys was orange the other was blue.

"What happened to that one?" I said. "It looks like he is sick." smile.

He said, "Well, Hamzah didn't have his coloring book so we shared my coloring book. Isn't it pretty."

No what was more prettier was Iman to love for our brothers what we love for ourselves. May Allah ta'ala make Jamaal and Hamzah from those who taste real Iman.

Assalamoalykum,

I teach 5th graders at the weekend school. There's one kid in my class that I just love. He is so adorable. Every time I talk about the Prophet and the sahaba and how they were the best among the people and will always be, how they suffered, etc, he gets tears in his eyes! Every time! Inshallah I have a feeling that he's going to be a very special person one day! He listens so intently and knows so much for his age and mashallah he is very intelligent. Every time he gets tears in his eyes my heart just melts and I feel so ashamed that the smallest things move this little kid and I hardly ever get moved even with big things.

My nephew is 3 and he has an older brother who is away at school.  for the school break he came home and AJ (my nephews nick name) was very happy to see him.  Daniel (my other nephew) went over his cousin's house to spend the night and the next morning AJ goes into my sister's room saying Mom when is Daniel coming back? she tell him he will be there shortly.  He leaves the room and comes back 5 minutes later "Mom I am just so upset Daniel is not here, could you fix me a bowl of cereal?"  This little guy is such a character!  You never know what he is going to come up with.  He has provided mr with many wet eyes over his stunts but this one had me crying for a while!

Come on Suha, the title of this thread is "cute nephew/niece stories"!

Ok, she's not really my neice, but Sheikh Yakoubi has this cute little red headed daughter(I think she's 4) named Aisha who spent the month with us in Spain.  Whenever one of us would say 'Aisha', she'd smile and do one of those waves where she'd open and close her hand.  She absolutely loved people.

One time, I was up on the balcony and she was playing around below, and I was calling her name and she was looking all around, so finally, she realizes I'm up above.  She does her cute wavey thing, so I wanted to give her something to play with.  Well, the only thing I had was this case my glasses were in, so I threw it down to her.  She ran off with it, then I realized, "That was stupid, I'll never see them again!"  Well, I watched the rest of the sunset from the balcony, and was about to head down for Maghrib, when guess who shows up at the door?...she stretches out both her hands and gives me my glasses :)

May Allah the Most Merciful grant us all beautiful, righteous children.

kiwi, sara, please ignore this if it is none of my business, but could you tell me how do you know how many kids you'd like to have?  Do you think it could change?

:) Wassalam :)
