Salaam Sisters
I read this quote and I want to share it with you...It rings so true to me...your opinions on it?
"Does it not seem that every one you love is either moving away...getting married...doing something that makes them better people...And some of them leaving us for good..do not you always think and me?"Then there was a comment under it saying it's from the signs of the day of Judgement...
What do you think????

Dear Hiyam,

I'm not sure I understood the quote. I got lost where it said "..do not you always think and me?" Maybe you could help me out with that part.

The first part definitely rings true though. It seems that most people I love are getting busier and busier with jobs, kids, carpools, housework, etc. By the time we're done with what we're "supposed" to do, no one has any energy left for anything else. This kind of drifting apart is sad, isn't it?

what i meant by "do not you always think and me?" I meant that you probably are doing the same thing or so it seems to other people...

Salaams,

I thought I was the only one who felt this.  It's so so TRUE!  Nearly all my friends are getting married and for some reason, they just don't have any time at all ... busy, busy, busy.  The weird thing is that they seem to have time for one another (i.e. the married types for each other) ... really weird, almost as if to say they've moved up the spiritual ladder, and shouldn't hang out with the likes of us un-sunnah-like singles :(

Is it really one of the signs of the day of judgement?  I can understand people becoming more busier after marriage due to increased responsibilities, but their general friendly-ness departs from them as well ... perhaps it is a sign.  I hope I don't become like that when I get married. :(

wa-salaams.

Asalaamu Alaikum

Aladdin ~ People tend to change as their situation in life changes. Thye face new problems and have to deal with new situations. I don't think its a conscious effort on their part to drift away but other priorities become more pressing.

Like you say, when you get the opportunity, be different and think of those you potentially maybe leaving behind.

Salam :)

Hiyam, your quote sounds like something I read..something like this:
You float down a river in a raft by yourself,
watching the shore and the trees swirl past.

What seems like speed of the world racing past you,
is really the speed of your own craft, leaving this world.
Allah the Most Merciful has created this world as test for us, to see which of us is best in action.  The Hereafter will be the time for enjoyment.

A story:

There was a King who, one day, told his servants "Go out and buy for me the finest clothing in the land."  When they returned with the costume, he said "No, this is not good enough. Go and get me something better."  So they searched once more, and returned with the prize, but again he said "No, this is not good enough.  Go and get me all the finest clothes you can find."  So they brought him thousands of clothes, and he took the best and most beautiful of them, and wore it.

Then the King said "Go and get me the finest horse in the land."  So they searched, and found him a fine Arabian horse, and brought it to him.  But he said "No, this is not good enough. Find me something better."  So they once again searched, and found him a more beautiful horse.  They brought the horse, but he said "No, I want something better.  Get me all the horses in the land." So they did, and he chose the finest one from among them.

So upon this magnificient horse the King rode, in his fine clothes, when upon a poor beggar he stumbled.  In his humble voice, the poor man said "Oh King, can you come down, I need to speak with you."

"What?", said the King, "Who are you to talk with me? "

"But King, really, I must speak with you."

"I shall continue with my ride.  Perhaps I shall return to you later."

"Oh King, this cannot wait. I must tell you something."

"I have not time for this."

"But you must listen.  I am the Angel of Death.  Your time has come."

And from his horse, the King fell.

Sister Hiyam, I agree that we are always losing touch with those we're close with, but its not the end of the world.  None of us stay in this world forever.

I bet you never knew I could be serious sometimes :)
:) Wassalam :)
