| slm Alhumdulillah! Insha'Allah I will be getting married on Jan 5th!! Now, i would lke to have a nice dress to wear noit too expensive but not a regular jilbab. Unfortunately there are no Islamic clothing stores in Boston. So I was looking online and I would rather be able to try the dress on before I purchase it. So does anybaody know any good Islamic clothig stores in say NY or any state/city kinda nearby Boston? Or do you know of a good website that gives CLEAR pictures of the dresses and stuff? I only have like 5 weeks so if i I buy online it has to be soon. Suggestions for design and purchase please!!! |

| As salaamu laykum, in case anyone did not notice, our br. Arsalan posted the hadeeth which the prophet (saw) would say {congratulate} whenever someone got married as narrated by Abu Hurayrah in the sunan of Abu Dawud that the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) congratulated a man on his marriage, he said " May Allah bless for you, and may He bless on you, and combine both of you in good (works) - Baaraka Allahu lak, wa baaraka alayk, wa jamaa baynakumaa fe khayr." |

Adding to what sis Musaddiqah said, in Nigeria most Muslims don't wear white, rather they have their coloured outfits made for them. | slm jazakhallah Khair for all the duah! You guys are really great. Well, I decided to make the dress but thanx anyway for all the suggestions. I will most likely be wearing either a really nice royal blue or lavender. Depends on the fabric choices. I am combining a few different patterns to make somthing reall great insha'Allah. My mom and Aunt are gonna make it. May Allah bless you all with a successful Ramadan and bless all the bachelors (Arsalan) and bachlorettes with who is compassionate, faithful and and full of love for Allah and his deen. | Assalamu Alikum wa RAhmat Allahu Wa baraktuhu A white dress doesn't necessarly mean your immatating the kaffir's. There are a lot of muslims that come from countries that wear white wedding dress. I know my mom, my mother-in-law, etc all wore white wedding gowns when they got married way back when. And it's been like that for years. wasalam |

| [color=Blue] everybody has a tradtional wedding dress and and white ball qawn like wedding dress-from what i have seen is the traditional wedding dress of most european countries(incl.us,canada,aus)(and this is what i meant by kufaar-describes them well anyway) if, i believe, u go to any where in the world u will find that they all have traditional wedding dresses unless tradition has been lost-due to Colonialism/western influence. this is just what i believe, this doesn't go to say my belief/opinoin is right..... like saleema said white is boring (although nice on bros.-and sisters too-but we/i have seen too much white on brides) the two reasons combined give me a good enough excuse to be different-like wear black & yellow :D ;) [/color] |

| slm Well, I went and picked out the fabric last night and I chose a cream. I's REALLY elegant. i wanted another color initially but with the patterns I chose, I could not find another color that would look right because I had lace in some parts. But it is this really nice fitted floor length dress with lace sleeves and lace on the bodice. Then I chose this FLY kimono which is sort of like a japanese overgarmet (but minus the waist wrapper thing) with triangular sleeves. I guess I am getting in touch with my Japanese roots:-) So I will wear that over the dress, nice and modest . It will have two clasps on it near the top and just above the waist and then where the dress is loose it will open so you can see the pretty fabric. Insha'Allah it will be sooooo nice. I love the design on the fabric and I got some pretty lace to go around the edges of my hijab and it matches perfectly alhumdulillah! I am so excited, can you tell? salaam:-) |
