| salams is it haram for me to look for someone for marriage without telling my parents? or can i tell them when i have found sm1? and is it haram to consider more than one person at a time? |

| Salamu Aliakom, Well 1st of all it depends on if you are a sister or a brother. The Muslim brother from what I know does not explicitly need approval from the parents, IE he doesn't need a wali. But it's always good to have approval of the parents to avoid conflict with the family etc. As for a Muslim sister, she needs approval from her wali. I wholly recommend you discuss this with your parents if you are a brother and if you are a sister well then I believe wa Allahu A3laam that you !MUST! discuss this with your parents and that hiding it from them is not an advisable course of action. Why don't you want to tell them? As far as considering multiple people, the best thing for this is salat al istikhara. Where you ask Allah to guide you in what's best for you. I believe the duah is somewhere on jannah.org, I think if you do a search on "istikhara" in the jannah.org search engine you can find it. Of course I am not a scholar of Islam, so Allahu A3laam if anything I have said has any validity to it. Anything that I have said that is true comes from Allah and anything that is untrue comes from jahl and the shaitan. |
