Walaikum asalaam,

How about a comic strip about kids in elementary school and their "adventures" and important lessons that they learned?

Or perhaps even stories about the Companions (ra) ?

Are you trying to go for something humorous or something that is serious with a message?  ???

AS'SALAAMUALIKUM :)

how did i know U'D be the 1 post? haha..:)

the last comic strip was about dhikr of Allah..dawood (the kid in the strip) was singin, "my heart will go on" and his ammi told him to instead of singin bout blah, sing bout the dhikr of Allah..so he does that, and near the end, he goes, "i'm the kind of the world" then he falls into the water in the next box, and says.."i mean, Allah is the King of the World"

haha..it's cute..we don't want something serious..since this goes in the  kids corner..and well, we want it to be kiddish..light hearted, basically..na'mean..? :) thanks for the ideas though..ima write em down :) ma'salaam :)

Assalam alaikum

I don't mean to be a spoilsport, but I think someone needs to point out that drawing pictures of living things is haram, and a major sin.
This is from islam-qa.com :

'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet  (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
said: "The people who will be most severely punished by Allaah on the Day of Resurrection are the picture-makers." (Reported by
al-Bukhaari, see al-Fath, 10/382). Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet  (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) said: "Allaah says: 'Who does more wrong than the one who tries to create something like My creation; let him
create a grain of wheat or an ear of corn . . .'" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see Fath al-Baari, 10/385). Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with
him) said: "Every picture-maker will be in the Fire, and for each picture that he made he will be given a soul, and he will be punished in
Hell." Ibn 'Abbaas said: If you must make pictures, draw trees and things that do not possess a soul." (Reported by Muslim, 3/1671).
These ahaadeeth clearly indicate that it is haraam to make images of animate beings, whether they be humans or different kinds of
animals, whether the images are two- or three dimensional. Pictures are forbidden whether they are drawn, engraved, carved, etched or
cast from moulds. The ahaadeeth which forbid making pictures cover all these methods.

We have great scholars in Houston and one of them is our Imam and if he sees anything wrong with our magazine he will point it out. Thank you.  :)

Salam,

I asked a scholar once who said that cartoonish type pictures for learning ... ie a depiction of someone praying that kids color in is ok.

In the "How to make Salat"

it shows by picture a man and woman in the positions for praying.  This is also learning

It would have been diffucult to mimick a tree prostrating

As for the cartoon I'm thinking...

i think thats a splendid idea!
had the idea myself a while back. why don't you do
something like the life of a famous muslim
like ibn battuta in his voyages? just to give a example of muslim life?
or perhaps write a play etc?

all the best in the enterprise

as salaamu alaikum,

this may sound a bit silly, but i had an idea a long time ago about a comic stript/cartoon called "Bob the confused convert"... before you get the wrong idea here, i was thinking it could be about a guy who converted to islam recently, but he is still unclear about many issues in islam. so his day to day adventures would involve geting into amusing yet commonly occuring situations and how in the end, he learns the correct way to do something... it has an educational message at the end... namin?

ok thats enough of my blabbering.. back to life :)

As a convert/revert I would not be offended in the context that Meraj is talking about because in a way that is true, we approach something we used to do and it requires a new way to get it done we have to think about it.  There were many times it brought a smile  to my face to see how I would have done it.  Hey that might even help!  As for him being a new friend to Dawood that would be great.
