| Salam In my Communicaitons class yesterday we had a man who worked in the television industry come to speak about persuasion. He mentioned in the television industry there is a dirty secret that every national news organization does everyday. In the morning, every organization brings with them the NY TIMES AND THE WASHINGTON POST. He said that these news organizations like CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC all look at these two newspapers and ask themselves how can we put images to these stories. This further proves that the news we hear everyday is controlled by two newspapers. That is very scary. Americans are being persuaded by the views of two newpapers. |

| Assalam ualykum, Yes, very true. These two newspapers own a lot firms and stuff,and they in turn are owned by someone else. Yeah, I learned this dirty little secret too. I also learned that a "good" journalist never tells anyone his sources and basically "doesn't bite the hand that is feeding him." Meaning that whatever your boss tells you to write, you do it without questions. 99.9% of the newspapers are like that. It's really sad and scary. Journalists also learn "really cool" tricks on how to chop sentences and blow things out of proportion taking the most insignificant quotes. wassalam |
