Farewell…

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem.

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Assalam alaikum wa rahmatullah.

Today is my last day on the Board for some time. I intend - bi'ithnillah ta'ala - to go and sit at the feet of some of our Ulema, for a short while, to regain a sense of myself, and relearn what it means to be a Muslim. To seek the Sacred Knowledge, and equip myself with that which is necessary to overcome my many faults. I have learned that I have much to learn. And I have realised that what I know is too little, yet I insist on having my say, like the impudent one standing before this Deen. A Deen for which I should feel grateful for being a part of, alhamdulillah, yet such gratitude being masked by the arrogance of posturing under the guise of one who knows. Wal iyadhubillah.

So I hope to acquire that which I never had, and regain that which I lost.

Shaykh Abdullah Adhami - may Allah (swt) preserve him - wrote about Imam Abu Hanifah (ra) that he (ra) said, "I prefer the stories of the scholars (ulema) and their company over most of fiqh - because that is the well of adab and good qualities."

My own brief experience testifies to the truth of this. We learn by example, and so we must seek out those who are exemplar, and possess excellence with respect to their Deen. The Deen of those who have not tasted the sweetness of such suhba [accompaniment] is normally a proof for this. You can see it manifested in such blameworthy attributes as haste, carelessness, arrogance, closed-mindedness, sectarianism, judgementalism, sanctimony, etc. All of these have no place when it comes to discussion involving Sacred Knowledge, and specifically law (i.e. fiqh), which touches issues of halal and haram.

This week has been a week of immense stress, pressure and sadness too. Allah ta'ala brought me face to face with a tragedy which shook me and those around me to our core, as the reality of the fallout hit us. We seek solace in His (awj) Rahma, and know that nothing happens without His (awj) Hikmah.

If you might spare a moment for this Brother of yours, and make a du'a for my strength, guidance, and wellbeing, I will remain in your debt.

Insha'Allah the weeks to come will be sources of delight, and should rank amongst the most memorable of my life, if everything works out. I make du'a for that which is better for my Deen, dunya and akhira [afterlife].

I will miss you and remember some of the times we have shared these last few months, and no doubt it will bring a smile to my face; the fondness of the memories.

The immediate road ahead promises much, of which great things should be encountered, if one can remain true, sincere, humble, focussed and with pure niyyah [intention].

I hope that the events of this past week or so are offset by my optimism and eagerness to sit with those who are the inheritors of the Messenger of Allah (saw), as he (saw) mentioned in the hadith which we all know.

To all those I let down, I am sorry. To those who expected more, I am sorry. If I did not give you your due, forgive me. If I said I would do something and haven't, know that it was not out of neglect or apathy. . When I fell short, it was because I could not reach that far yet did not realise it. If I overshot, then it was because momentarily I forgot my place, astaghfirullah. For I am but the 'abd of Allah (swt). To those that benefited some, alhamdulillah, may he (swt) keep us on the Sirat al-Mustaqeem, and Guided.

If I need to solicit the forgiveness of any of you, consider it asked. I pray your Ramadhan is wonderful and yields all that you hoped it would, for the sake of His (awj) proximity.

I'd like to thank you all for contributing to my Deen, and bettering me in your own way.

I end with a du'a related by a dear Brother:

Allahumma ighfir li bimaa laa ya`alamuun. Wa laa tu aakhidhni bimaa yaquuluun. Waj`alni khayran min maa yaDHunnun.

Which he translated as:

O Allah, forgive me (of those things) that these people don't know. And do not hold me responsible for what they say (in their good faith). And make me better than what they think of me.

He said:

"Imam ghazzali raDiyallahu `anhu wrote this in his arba`een fee uSuul ad-deen that this is the du`a of sayyiduna `ali karramallahu wajhuhul kareem when he was praised on his face."

Wassalam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Abu Khaled

Br Abu Khaled, SubhanAllah you string words together in such a beautiful way yet all beauty is for Allah. I am speechless and wordless when posting for you.  I think our ummah needs such an excellent communicator like you to go into public speaking. I do not know what you do?   May Allah swt help you attain what you seek.  Please remember us in our duas and  Please forgive me if I have wrote anything that I should not have.

Wassalam

My dear brother AbuKhaled

May Allah gudie you and ease your heart.  May he fill it with all that is good and plant your feet firmly on the sirat al Mustaqueem. Ameen

I will miss your replys and answers to some of these threads but you have a important mission in front of you and it is one that I pray is most successful.  It is good to know that you want to be a better muslim than to walk away.

Please take care of yourself and InshaAllah we will be here when you return. :-)

Assalam-u-Alaikum,

First and foremost I pray that Allah (AWJ) guides and benefits you in your desire to attain that which will benefit you in this world and the Hereafter, Insha-Allah.  I pray that whatever tragedy befell you and those around you subsides quickly.  Ameen.

Brother, I will sorely miss your presence... I don't know if you'll read this before you go on your journey for knowledge but I'd like to say it anyway. ... Brother, I have benefitted from you... but, for fear of indulging in excessive praise, I shall say no more.  There are, unfortunately very few people like you brother... but i guess we all already know that... Masha-Allah La Quwatta illa Billah.

Needles to say that you are in my duas as long as you keep me in your duas.

Wassalam-u-Alaikum,
Your brother in Islam,
Uzer

May Allah bless you with the best of the two worlds! Make some dua for this wretched sinner too!
