prob2:             Whats the solution for latch-key kids
Chiristians say: treat your child as Doctor xyz has shown in his research
Jews say:         treat your child as some jew Doctor has shown in his research
Muslims say:      follow the golden principles of Islam

prob3:             .............
Chiristians say: ............
Jews say:       ............
Muslims say:        follow the golden principles of Islam

Islam guides us Muslims under all the circumstances and this guidance is
certainly the best but other religions are just a few bogus practices and
nothing more, thats the reason why non-Muslims are so much mentally disturbed,
they've got no solid solution for rapes, divorce, broken homes, latch-key kids,
teenage-pregnancies, and AIDS. On the other hand Islam gives us the solution
for all the problem which we may face in our lives and thats the reason why
WE, MUSLIMS are called fundamentalists.

There are lots of Muslim who lable each other with this word, but why is it
that a person calls the other a 'fundamentalist', here is what i think is the
criteria:
" if i follow x no. of islamic teachings and the number of teachings
that you follow are n plus x, where n is a postive integer, then
       you are a fudamentalist "
i've come up to this conclussion because we on this message board think that we
are quite moderate people but there ARE Muslims out there who think that people
like us are also 'fundamentalists'. We should keep in mind that this word was
introduced among us by Non-Muslims. now i've two questions to ask from my friends.

Is it a cheap way of making Muslims deviate from their noble cause ?
if yes then are we innocent or cruel, that we keep labeling each other by it ?

as salaamu alaikum,

although this may sound a bit general, the way i see it, if you believe la illaha il lallah muhammadur rasoolullah and all that it carries, then you are muslim... otherwise, you're not. simple. anything else is between you and Allah.

coo? aiight im outta here...

:) BAM! how do you like THEM apples?!

If you believe in the 6 articles of faith
known as the 6 kalimah's (see Al-fiqh Al-akbar by Imam abu hanifah it's posted on the net in english)
then you are a muslim
however if you are a ruler then 'he who does not rule according to what allah has revealed is a disbeliever' al-quran

Is there something wrong in being called a fundamentalist? ???  Doesn't it just mean someone that does the basics?

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

I think one of the reasons we should stay away from terms like this is because we have this tendency to label, categorize, and easily reference... it seems like we like to put people in these boxes 'salafi', 'sufi', 'wahaabi', 'maliki', etc

And with non-Muslims, fundamentalist = extremist, it's one of those trigger words..

we need to be careful is all I'm saying..

wasalaam.

p.s. meraj I thought it was booya ? ;D

wa alaikum as salaam,

though a friend of mine said "don't say BOOYA... you're not in the ghetto, and you're not playing basketball" :)
