| 10. Supporting non-Muslims instead of Muslims because we're cheap and/or lazy. "Yeah, I know that Madina Mart sells halaal meat, but the kosher is a dollar cheaper at Shop n Save." "Yeah I know Dr. Ahmad just opened his practice, but Dr. Silvergoldstein is covered by my insurance." "Go to Ali's House of Falafels? Naah, let's hit McDonalds." 9. Starting everything late. "Oh don't worry, Muslim Time(c) means the lecture won't start for another two hours. That's odd how the Jews are an influential and formidable group and they seem to start things on time." Also actually having signs on location of an event, or publicity for an event - Muslims can't possibly do that. 8. Whining instead of getting off your back end and *doing* something. "The justice system in America is so bad... No, I don't vote. I can't believe what happened to Amadou Diallo... No, I didn't go to a protest. Look at these kids today, tsk tsk... No, I've never offered to teach a class or organize an event for youth. Look at what they said in the newspaper about Islam, how wrong... No, I didn't write a letter to the editor. Television is corrupting our whole society... oh look, Friends is on." 7. Insulting instead of actively giving daawah. "Those yahood have a a Zionist plot to run the whole world!! What, go to an interfaith program? Why should I waste my time on those kaffirs? Yes, I know I live in a non-Muslim country! So what! They're all kaffirs!!!" 6. Hold to idiotic personal beliefs. "Men are better than women!" "No abeed, no black man is ever allowed to marry my daughter!" "I live and die for Pakistan, above all else!" "I'm Egyptian first, Muslim second!" 5. Criticizing those who are trying to do something for Islam. "Go to *that* conference?? Yeah, it brings thousands of Muslims together every year and grants people the opportunity to hear some of the most amazing scholars and speakers alive today, but look how bad they are, I know some people go there to flirt." "That speaker? I heard he's sufi. I wouldn't listen to his countless lectures on Islam or go to his classes taught by shuyookh. I hear he's a sufi wahhabi shia.." 4. Publicize sites that are Anti-Islamic, and urge people to visit. "This site insults everything we believe in and strive to live our lives by. Please visit and increase the hits on his counter, and make sure to tell countless other Muslims about it too, so everyone goes to his site and sees the trash he's writing!" 3. Talk without knowing. "Well, I read the introduction to one book once, and so therefore I know everything you've said is haraam. You're gonna burn in hell if you do that, that's bidda. That's against the sunnah, that's against ahlul sunnah wal jama'... You're a kaffir!" 2. Argue over topics that scholars have differed on. "Hey, let's start a discussion on Sunnis vs. Shias" "I think music is allowed in Islam, and I have the daleel to back it up!" "Niqab is fard!" "I know which one of the madhahib is best!" 1. Waste our time bickering and fighting with one another, instead of actually doing something *productive* to change the world around us and the sickening condition we are in today. "You're wrong" "I'm right" "What's your daleel" "In my humble opinion" "Kaffir" "Munafiq" "Jahil" etc... |
