| Asalamu Alaikum I found this Hadith regaurding Joking.......3624 There is no Harm in Joking as long as it is Truthful -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Assalamu alaikum What is the ruling concerning joking? Is it considered useless and vain speech? Note that it does not contain any ridiculing of the religion. Jazakum allah alf Khair Praise be to Allaah. Wa ?alaykum al-salaam wa rahmat-Allaahi wa barakaatuhu. There is no harm in joking by words and anecdotes, if they are truthful and real, especially if it is not done often. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to joke but he would only speak the truth. If it is with lying, then it is not allowed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Woe to the one who speaks and tells a lie in order to make the people laugh at it. Woe to him. Then again, woe to him." This was recorded by Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasal with a good chain. Shaikh ibn Baz (Islam QA) So Insha'Allah we are supposed to tell stories that are true and not lies....... Allah hu Alim!! | Asalaamu Alaikum An Imam told me the following story about our Prophet (pbuh) and the Sahabah Our Prophet (pbuh) and some Sahabah were sitting down and eating dates together. Each were placing their date stones in front of them. One of the Sahabah wanted to play a joke on our Prophet and placed some date stones on our Prophet's (pbuh) pile. He then commented "It looks like someone is very hungry" pointing at our Prophet's (pbuh) large pile of stones. Our Prophet (pbuh) indicated to the Sahabah's smaller pile and replied "Some people are so hungry, they eat the dates AND the stones as well" That one always makes me chuckle :) [quote]especially if it is not done often[/quote] I think that's the key, because it can easily get out of hand |

| slm hey that's pretty funny! I hadn't heard about that one. Yeah that's definitely something I gotta work on, sometimes I get carried away. It's just i enjoy seeing others happy and laughing :) |
