One of the smallest Holy Qurans in the world, which can be read only with the help of a microscope, is on display at the Quran Exhibition at the Indian Association here. The verses are engraved on a piece of glass measuring 8mm in width and 18mm in length and comprise 495 pages.

The microscopic Quran was brought from France and is the centre of attraction at the exhibition organised by the Islamic Culture Centre (ICC). The three-day exhibition, which was opened by Ali Nida, Director of the Sharjah Arabic Calligraphy Centre on Wednesday, is part of the ICC's month-long Quran awareness campaign.

ICC President K.M. Taha said that the exhibition aimed to convey the universal message of the Holy Quran, especially among non-Muslims. "The Holy Quran is the message of God to the whole of mankind, aimed at showing them the right way of life and ensuring success in their life on earth and life hereafter," he said.

The exhibition features translations of the Quran into several languages, its rare copies, calligraphic works of Quranic verses, plants mentioned in the Quran, computer-aided visual presentation of Quranic verses, Islamic books, CDs, audio and video cassettes, artefacts and various related exhibits

assalaamu alaikum

Personally i'm not a great fan of these microscopic Qur'ans, simply because they are of no use really. The purpose of the Qur'an is to be a source of guidance for humanity, not a piece of art or a decoration which this one seems to be. Sure its cool as a technology that we can write this small, but not much more.

Its less use than a mushaf sitting on the top-shelf.. because at least that gets read once in a while, but i've never heard of someone feeling religious and pulling out their microscope

Kashif-I completely agree with you. I think it's ridiculous and very sad.  There's this big exhibit of Quranic artifacts but there is no Quran in our hearts. Yet another sad reflection of the state of our Ummah.
:( It really is just a decoration. Isn't that a sign of the Day of Judgment?  And, why would anyone read from a microscopic Quran anyways?? Very strange...
