Question & Prize

assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

I'll send a prize in the post (provided the winner sends me his/her address) to the one who on his/her first reading of this post can list the pillars of the wudoo for me.

A second prize goes to the one who on the first reading of this post can list the pillars of the salah for me.

No teamwork & no "I'll-leave-the-computer-on-while-i-check-my-book-here" cheating.

as salaamu alaikum,

what exactly do you mean by pillars? you mean like the steps, or just the general requirements?

as salaamu alaikum,

ok lemme take a shot at this...

1) intention... make the intention to purify yourself.
2) wash right hand 3 times, wash left hand 3 times
3) wash mouth 3 times
4) wash inside of nose 3 times
5) was *entire* face 3 times
6) wash right arm 3 times at least up to the elbow, then the same for the left arm
7) wipe hands over hair to make it wet
8 ) wipe behind ears with thumbs, then come back with index fingers and wipe inside ears
9) wash right foot 3 times at least up to the ankle, then same for the left
10) say "ash hadu an la illaha illallah wa ash hadu anna muhamadun rasoolullah"

i think? can i use a lifeline? :)

well thats my final answer...

salaam

okay if i remember from fiqh class

1)washing hands.
2)washing face.
3)washing arms.
4)washing feet.

these are all the main pillars of wudu........
meaning if you skip these steps, you wudu is invalid.

Can someone correct me if i'm wrong... thanks!

Salaam

Concerning my last post... those are just the main PILLARS.... there are more sunnah steps so don't go basing your wudu on this forum thread only!!!!!!!!

okay.. my 2 cents.

Pillars of salah?

Are tukkas (guesses) allowed?  Anyway...

1. Intention
2. Takbeer Tahrimah (very first takbeer)
3. Surah Al-Fatihah (in each rak'ah)
4. Rukooh (in each rak'ah)
5. Sajdah (in each rak'ah)
6. Tasleem (at the end)

This is, obviously, unchecked and just my first attempt at an answer so dont take this as correct at all.

If I can remember correctly,

pillars of wudu:

wash face, hands, head, and feet

pillars of prayer are:

intention, facing the Qibla (kaaba), recitation of surat al-Fatiha and any other part of the Quran, al rukoo, sujood, tashahood, tasleem

Since I read all the post first I won't answer

but "I'll go and check the book"  :)

no prize for that huh? ;)

But on a serious note just last night I started to re-read the Salah book again to refresh my memory on things I may have filed to far back in the recesses of my mind.

Kashif another great exercise!

bismillah alrhman alrhim
alsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu

if i recall correctly from the post-IAW jeopardy game at uni this year..there are 6 parts (requirements) to wudhu'

1)intention
2)arms once
3)face once
4)head once
5)feet once
6)order in which they are performed

all the parts of wudhu' have to be done at least once...the x3 is actually the sunnah and is not obligatory ...

i have a feeling i got the order mixed up ...face is first and then arms?? ..i'm not sure but thats the most i can remember

ok now since i've contributed i am really looking forward to seeing what the correct answer is

alsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu:o)
