While some of us are all happy about the White House having an iftar (meanwhile Iraqi children are starving), I am not one of them.  After reading the following, you can draw your own conclusions.

Since Albright (May Allah either guide her or CURSE her) has been PERSONALLY responsible for the suffering in Iraq, my PERSONAL opinion (I am NOT a scholar) is that any muslim who accepted her inviation for Iftar committed a major sin, should do taubah, and should consider performing the fast again.  How can you possibly fast all day, and then eat at hands of a woman whose hands are covered with muslim blood ?  I refer all of you to once again visit's Saleema's posts with the link to the pictures of deformed babies.

Assalam ualykum,

I wouldn't have gone to do iftar personaly if I had received such an invitation. Or I would have gone, taken a date with me, broken my fast on my date and then would have bugged the hell out of her and everyone else there who works for the government. Of course they would throw me out. I wonder what would happen if someone punched Albright???

Charlie Reese said that she is either nutty or evil. I think she's evil.

Mulan,

Would you feel the same way if a close relative of yours had been murdered by whoever was calling you to iftar ?  After all, we are all supposed to be brothers and sisters and feel each others' pain.

AsalamAlayKum,

As a Freshman/Sophomore at the American Islamic
College in Chicago oh so long ago, one of the
regrets I had at the time, happened one Jumu'ah.

That Friday, for some reason, I was downtown
and not on the College's Modest North Side
campus. Hence, Juma was at the Downtown Islamic
Centre (or as Americans spell it, 'centER').

It was municipal Election time, Mayor Harold
Washington had died in office just previously.

Richard M. Daley was looking to win back his
Father's office. Like George W. did for the
senior Bush.

Daley was NO friend of Muslims, at that time.
A Muslim-Friendly voice on Chicago City Council
was needed.

So, There I am, and we all just finished the
Juma'ah salat and people are beginning to stand
for their Sunnats...

A Masjid committee member takes the mike
and requests us delay our sunnah prayers as
they have a 'guest' who has requested to address
the jammat.

It was Judge Pincham.

A local Judge running for some executive position
on city council. Not the Mayor's job, but
important nonetheless, I just can't recall now.

The Judge sez his peace, goes on all about how
he has been a friend to the muslim community,
this takes a few minutes.

The Ummah in that 3rd floor Musallah are polite
and listen.

All the while my heart is racing,
My mouth is drying,
I am nervous.

I become scared.

I have to think fast.

Judge Pincham has almost finished his campaign speech.

I .. I... I don't do anything.

For a moment, I become a coward.

I froze.

Instantly when He began his pitch for votes,
Allah gave me an idea, a thought, a very good
thought.

I wanted to, with my loud voice, from almost
the last line of the Musalah, where I was standing,
I wanted to yell out and interrupt and say,

" Judge Pincham, Judge Pincham, you come here
Today, You have heard the words of Allah in
The Friday Qhutbah. You come here today to
ask us for our support to lead you to victory
  in the Election.

Judge Pincham, I now ask you to do one thing,
And if you do this one thing, I can GUARANTEE
  you will be a winner.

Accept Islam, Say the Shahada, and Become muslim.
Right now. And Allah will guarantee you victory...."

But I didn't say that.

That's not what anyone heard.

He said, "Thank You and God Bless You."
Brothers hither and thither just shrugged and
continued on with their sunnats.

The Judge worked his way to the back of the
room towards the exit where I was standing.

Feeling like crap, at my cowardice for not
speaking up...I wait.

The Judge gets right to me, and I ask him, or
rather Blurt out, "ARe you a...muslim..?"

"NO!..." He looks away, while shaking my hand,
Turns back and sez, "But I love ya!"

Our handshake, mine bare, his with gold rings
ends.

If I ever had an invitation to a similar function
I think I'd know what to say.

I hope that other muslims would too.

Funny..I haven't thought of the memory in years.

Well, 'Khair', as they say in urdu.

Salam,

~ HiMY! ~

no i wouldn't LIKE to attend..but we muslims in the US aren't even involved politically to do anything for our benefits... If we were involved politically, we may and could have lessend and  even stopped the sanctions and the bombing of Iraq...we could have encouraged USA to discouraged Israel to stop using excessive force...
When we become involved politically, we can have a bit power to help our muslim brothers in need throughout the world

This one politician said to us, that when something hurts you a bit..some muslims come together and oppose..but when it is over we don't even hear your voices anymore..you guys have no power!
and it is true..
