Fajr Khutbah 25th Ramadan by shaikh muhammad (real rough notes, sorry)

There is a verse in the Quran where Allah mentions those that stand in the night waiting for Allah. (um, forgot which surah..i THINK he said it was in surah maryam..but i couldnt find it..so i'm sorry, i don't remem.) Qunut (i think he said qunut?) in this verse means obedience to Allah, seeking Allah's mercy. the second part mentions standing up for prayer and making sujjud to Allah swt. Prophet Muhammad saw said, the closest you get to Allah is when in sujood.

When you pray to Allah, upon making sujood:
1. ask for forgiveness and mercy
2. fear his punishment on the day of judgement.

For those like Rabia al awaliyah and others who claim to worship Allah only for the sake of Allah and not for fear or reward etc..is nonsense because Allah said in the Quran that the sole purpose of worship should be of two things. (to ask for forgiveness and mercy and fear his punishment on the day of judgement.)

......

Knowledge:
1. knowledge of heart which is attained through iman
2. knowledge attained through learning

some of the companions ex a companion (didn't catch the name) was happy with his blindness b/c Prophet Muhammad said whoever is afflicted and patient with their loss of eyesight, they will have jannah. blindness is not a disaster, the disaster is when the heart is sealed and thereis nno iman, that is the greatest lost. "blindness does not come from the eyes but though the hearts of the human.
