Fajr Khutbah 27th Ramadan by shaykh

We thank and praise Allah for giving us ramadhan and lailatul qadr. It is important to know that ramadhan is not over yet, and that it is not true that lailatul qadr is on the 27th. Some scholars based the 27th on ahadeeth while others say that lailatul qadr is on any odd nights of ramadhan, which is supported by different sets of hadeeths.

We ask Allah to accept our niyyah for seeking and searching for this night. The hadith supporting the 27th is a weak (dhaif) hadeeth and many muslim countries make it official and certain that lailatul qadr is on the 27th but it is not, so continue to pray, seek forgiveness and the mercy in the remainder of Ramadhan.

Prophet Muhammad saw taught and encouraged us to seek mercy and forgiveness through out the entire Ramadhan. There is the hadith: whoever prays during month of Ramadhan, believing in Allah and seeking His reward, Allah will forgive all his sins.
The entire month of ramadhan is emphasized and to search for the special night of Lailatul Qadr. Do not belittle any little good deed that you do because you do not know which act whether big or small that will be accepted by Allah. An example of that is of a hadith where a man removed thorns from a path for the muslims with the intention of soley doing it for the sake of Allah. This man Prophet Muhammad saw said will go to jannah. There's another example of the hadith where there was a prostitute who saw a thirsty dog, gave it water, and Allah forgave all her sins for that and will enter her to jannah.

Any disobedience no matter how minor might contain the wrath of Allah....for example, there was this woman who would lock up her cat, not providing it with food nor would allow it to find food for itself, until the cat died. For this deed, she will go to the hellfire.

you never know which word might make Allah swt happy and take you to jannah, and the same with that you don't know which words will take to the fire. A man might say a word without paying attention to what he has said, and Allah was offended, the man will fall in the fire 70 times.

As Allah is very Merciful, He is also strong in punishment. Regarding His mercy: My mercy is prescribed to those who have taqwah, give zakah..for the believers who follow with good deeds and punishment for those who ... (sorry!!!) of Allah.

...
Advice:

not to put akhira behind us. not to worship only a few nights in ramadhan but to always seek the pleasure of Allah even after Ramadhan. Know that the reward is with Allah.

of not taking care of masjid.
scholars say man is like a fish in water. if you take the fish out of water, he will not survive for long. so it is important to come often to the masjid etc..esp in this environment and in a nonmuslim country...

Allah blessed us with this month of ramadhan. so strive to the fullest, and take every opportunity to excell in good deeds, to ask for forgiveness etc because we are not sure if we will be here for the next ramadhan. so continue to do good deeds and follow them through. Ask to be kept on the straight path.

we ask Allah swt to keep us on the straight path, to con't in good deeds and to follow through...etc...ameen
