| Asalaam alaikum wrt wb, Saleema, I interrupted the poem the same way as you did, that the "you" was a woman, but Jannah, and perhaps the poet, has a different interpretation. |

| assalaam alaikum, well i have no idea what the author "meant" in his poem. i guess unless we ask him or if he's written it somewhere we'll never know. i like interpreting it the way i want though...that's the power of poetry..it speaks to you and means something to you. |

| Assalamoalykum, Well, it is a free world, so you can interpret it however you like. :) But, just a rule: Poetry can't be interpreted according to one's own feelings. ( can't think of a better word.) All good poetry is supposed to have only one iterpretation of the overall theme. :) This same poem is translated in many different ways. This is not one of the good translations. Wassalam |

| Asalaam alaikum wrt wb, Saleema, you have seen other translations of this poem? If you have, could you post them, maybe that might give us some clues as to what the author meant. I hadn't heard of this poet before, nor knew he was popular? |

| Assalamoalykum, The poetic expressions in this poem are very good, that's why people like it so much. I think as long as the poem are clean, it doesn't matter and if they are not about haram love, you know..... but i don't know what would the ruling of islam would be on this. Wassalam |

| As'salaam Alaikum, InshAllah everyone is doing fine. I read the poem and first thought if this was appropiate or not to be on here. MashAllah the graphics was very nice. In Ihya 'Ulm Al Deen by Imam Ghazzali, Sunnah explains how depending on the contents of the poem constitutes whether it is permissible or not. Allahu A'lam. Salaam Alaikum. |

| Ok, now this is DEFINITELY a love poem addressed from a man to a woman (let's say husband to a wife to give some benefit of doubt here). I don't know if we wanna post this type of poetry on this board. I would advise against it (if anyone cares for that :)) It opens up the door for all kinds of things. You don't wanna do that. | I like the first translation, it's less explicit and more dreamy... as for the whole love poetry bit, i don't think there's anything wrong with it.. maybe some husband's can print it out and send it to their wives ! :) |
