| Assalamu alaikum, I'm gonna give you guys 24 hours to come up with the answers for these, because I don't think these are too hard. Having said that, don't underestimate the riddles :) 1. A man looks at a portrait on the wall and exlaims: "Brothers and sisters I have none But this man's father is my father's son" Whose portrait is he looking at? 2. You stand beside a river with two buckets in your hands, one which can hold up to 7 gallons of water, and the other that can hold up to 5 gallons of water. You are to fetch precisely 4 gallons of water. You have no measuring devices or tools except the buckets of known volumes. How will you accomplish your task? Wassalam. P.S. If you've read these before, keep your mouth shut ;) |

| Asalaam alaikum wrt wb, Number one was easy, he was looking at himself. Number two, hmmmmm. Tricky, Arsalan, very tricky, here's my guess. Take the 7 gallon bucket and fill it with water from the river. Pour the 7 gallon's water into the 5 gallon's bucket till its full and stop. That leaves 2 gallons in the 7 gallon bucket and the 5 gallon bucket is full. Dump the 5 gallons water into the river and fill it with the remaining 2 gallons from the 7 gallon bucket. Now the 7 gallon bucket is empty so fill it up again from the river completely. Now poor it into the 5 gallon bucket (which has 2 gallons from the previous time) until its full. The 5 gallon bucket has room for 3 more gallons, so that leaves us with 4 gallons in the 7 gallon bucket. :) Q.E.D. |

| First one is that he is looking at his son. Second one fill the 7 and from that fillup 5 that leaves two in 7. Empty the 5 and pour two from 7 into 5. Now fill seven and fill up five from it since it had 2 it can take 3 thus leaving four in 7. this was in that die hard movie to diffuse the bomb rem ppl. |

| No wthat I read other ppls guesses every body got the first one wrong the riddle says this man's father is my father's son, that man's father is the guy himself right but that man is that guy's son! so the portrait is of his son not himself so how come ppl didn't get it? |

| Assalamu alaikum, I know it's only been 23 hours, not 24, but I have to go to sleep and the correct answers have already been given, so I don't think another hour would make a difference. Murtaza got them both right. Arshad got the second one right, and the first one wrong. Others got them all wrong :) I don't think I need to explain the 2nd one. The first one is "his son." To assure yourself of this one, replace the relations with names of people from your family, and you will see that Murtaza was right. Wassalamu alaikum. |

| Asalaam alaikaum wrt wb, 1). In one weeks time it will be MIDNIGHT (as they are at a midnight sleepover), so there will be no sun at midnight. 2). The man lives in a lighthouse and the lights must be turned on at night so ships don't hit land and crash. The man read in the newspaper that a ship had crashed because the light in the lighttower wasn't turned on. |

| Okay you got that right... see if you can get the first one. Here's another one for thinkers! "Ok, imagine a large empty bin with. Say that each minute people would come and put in one golf ball apiece. The first minute (Starting at 12 noon), 1 person came and put in a ball. The second minute, 2 people put in one ball apiece. A minute later, 4 people put in 1 ball apiece. This pattern continued until the bin was exactly full at 6 pm. At what time was the bin half empty?" |

| Well, today I couldn't even post... I had to e-mail Arshad and he, Al-Hamdulillah, promptly fixed the problem... Anyway, 5:59 is the correct answer since every minute the number of balls doubles. The answer to an earlier post about "I go up and go down and at the very same time..." is: The Moon I'm kinda running out of riddles right now so don't be surprised at the answer to the following riddle... I didn't like it very much... but then again maybe I'm not as smart as you bunch! "A bartender watches a man as he enters his bar. The man comes up to the bartender and asks for a drink of water. Instead of giving the man a drink of water, the bartender pulls out a gun and points it at the man. The man replies "Thank you.", and exits the bar with a satisfied look on his face. The bartender, also with a satisfied look, puts his gun away and returns to work, as if nothing unusual has happened. Why did the man enter the bar in the first place?" Wassalam-u-Alaikum |
