Kashif Wa Salaam from gazeta.ru August 29th Kadyrov's First Night in New York The chief of the temporary civil administration in Chechnya Akhmad Kadyrov intends to tell the world community his version of the current situation in his homeland. He will do so at the world religious leaders' forum, opened under the auspices of the United Nations Organization in New York on Monday. The ex-Mufti (religious leader) of Chechnya, invited to address the forum, told journalists in New York that it is essential for him to take the opportunity "to tell the truth", because the propaganda machine launched and maintained by leading rebel ideologist Movladi Udugov is working at full capacity to spread misinformation over the world. "They shout about holy war, they scream that Muslims are being killed in Chechnya, the repression of the faith," said Kadyrov. "In reality all that is not true, and I want to say that loud and clear." Kadyrov added, "The so-called leaders, the likes of Maskhadov have never wanted to do anything for our people". "Chechnya has been turned into a refugee for criminals not only from the CIS, but from the whole world," asid Kadyrov. He announced that first of all he intends to meet with the delegates from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other countries here "Udugov's people are actively working". He hopes that he can prompt Muslims to take measures against those who are financing the Chechen rebels. It is very doubtful that Kadyrov's appeal will in any way significantly influence the Muslim world. Even if those who render aid to the Chechen rebels listen to Akhmad Kadyrov, it is almost certain they will not in any way be persuaded by his appeals. Those supporting the Chechen rebels are not doing so for religious reasons. Their main interests in Chechnya are mainly political and economic. Chechnya is a very lucrative marketplace, highly attractive for arms and drug dealers. Besides, there is always a steady demand for mercenaries. Of course, Akhmad Kadyrov must be well aware of this and must realize that all his appeals will fall upon deaf ears. On the other hand, his appeal to the world community could serve to enhance his political weight. Besides, he has already gained some: the head of one of Russia's 89 regions is attending the religious leaders' forum as a plenipotentiary participant, despite the fact he is no longer mufti of Chechnya. The former Chechen Mufti says he does not have many hopes for negotiating with the rebels. He told the press that the Chechen problem could be solved only when the Chechens themselves oppose the rebels and stop supporting the separatists. "This war cannot be ended by military methods," he emphasized. " We, the Chechens, must end the war. And if we fail, the war will last for 10-20 years"… "First of all, civilians must not give shelter to the rebels. | Assalamu alaikum, It is truely sad to have a former mufti of Chechnya take such a stand. What is his hidden agenda? Is anybody speculating about his relations with the russian intelligence? Also, I am not familiar with "gazetaru" from which the article was reprinted. Can you tell us more about it? Is it a russian newsagency? JAK Wassalam, Mona |

Glory be to Allah! who is the guardian of all... non sustains bani Aadam other than Allah... even if supplies were cut... |
