Assalaamu alaikum, Arshad, you haven't seen snow at all? Not even on a mountain top? No? Amazing! I kinda like snow. It changes the look of the environment and is also fun (actually sleet and freezing rain is more fun :) Try walking on a sheet of ice on the sidewalk. That is fun :) ). Does LA has a fall season? Dust storms are common in Pakistan during April/May, and can be pretty nasty! In northern Nigeria, during winter, winds blow from the north bringing in sand and dust from the Sahara. As a result, the atmosphere is darkened with suspended sand and it often gets quite cool even though Nigeria is within the tropics! This seasonal wind/condition is called harmatan. I'm sure Sr. Maryam knows about this. Wasalaam. |

Asalaam alaikum wrt wb, Asim- The weather in LA is pretty much the same year round, gets a little hotter in summer and slightly cooler in winter. We do have mountains in part of the area and whenever I have visited there, the snow was already ice. So I have yet to experience snow. Sounds like people don't like it very much? ??? |

As salaamu alaykum. Masha Allah, one of the most beautiful times during the winter months is when there is a fresh snowfall. My son and I enjoy walking in the crisp cold night and watch the snowflakes fall from the dark sky. The trees look so beautiful when the snow has collected on the branches. The side walks actually glisten like a thousand diamonds. Now if you asked my Arab born husband who likes it hot- who has to clean off the car, drive on icy and slippery roads, he most probobly has a whole different outlook on snow! |

slm, We left Nigeria more than 10 years ago and therefore I don't have any inside info. Muslims and Christians used to live peacefully. There were occasional debates and conflicts but they did not escalate or become deadly as has been the case in recent years. This is really sad, and I think it has to do with the degrading economic conditions there. The news indicates that the recent conflicts were due to Christians objecting to shariah in some states. Anyway, we have a native Nigerian on this board. Maybe she (Maryam) can provide more info. Wasalaam. |

Assalamoalykum, I was watching the news a while back and this nigerian chirstian priest was being interviewd. he was here to lobby against the sharia states in nigeria. Guess what he said? he said that shaira law will not allow a muslim to convert to christianity and will not allow a christian to convert to Islam. I can't believe that he went on tv and lied like that! He mus have a lot of guts. I doubt that he was ignorant about the sharia law. being Nigerian and living among Muslims and coming to the US to lobby against it and to meet leaders he must have done some research. I bet he said that because to the Americans freedom of religion is a big deal and it is pretty much with everyone. Most people are ignorant about Islam and I bet he knew that and that is why he lied to create hatred and misinformation about Islam. I was expecting to see a muslim being interviewd too, but they didn't. They got the Muslim's point of view coming from the christians too. How conveniant. You would think that people would start to wonder about the authenticity of the claims but my experience tells me that the average person on this planet doesn't think! I am angry all over again.!!!!! Wassalam |
