I was hoping some of the geniuses on this board would be better equipped to answer you. But anyway, if I was in your place I'd start off with the Ayah about why humans and jinn were created:  To worship Allah.  Then I'd go on to put this world and the hereafter in perspective i.e. the short-lasting world vs. the everlasting hereafter... which one is better to go after?  Reference that studying and working hard with the right intentions (for the good of the Ummah, etc.) is a form of worship. Then I'd talk about why college is important for the ummah... e.g. to earn a halal income to support one's family, sadaqah, money for jihad, betterment of society, self-sufficiency... without forgetting to learn about our deen which will ultimately be more beneficial.  There was a very good post under a thread entitled "Is college useless?" in this board somewhere.  You can use that as a bit of reference. With a bit of expansion this structure can become quite a talk.  Be sure to give lots of Ayahs and Ahadith.  That's the best I can do now.  If I think of anything else I'll be sure to post.
