as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh, Tomorrow is my first day of senior year! But instead of looking forward to it, I'm dreading all the work, patience, effort needed being a Muslimah yet another year in an inner city public highschool. C'mon, give me some motivating, uplifting, spirit-raising advice? Anyone? :) |

| Assalamu alaikum, Cool! The senior year of High school was my favorite year. You've pretty much finished all the important years of high school as far as college applications are concerned (they only look at your accomplishments upto 11th grade, because you have to turn in your transcripts along with your applications in nov/dec). Moreover, you're the boss now! All those juniors, sophomores and freshmen will be looking up to you, and taking your advice even if you're dead WRONG :) The only "work" you have to do really is the college process, and taking your SAT's (if you haven't already gotten a desirable score). Other than that, you're probably taking some AP courses. In that case, don't stress too much. AP/Honors classes only take you more in depth, not necessarily more hard work. If anything, there is LESS emphasis on nitty gritty details which bored the heck out of me when I was in high school. The class size is smaller, the students are maturer than regular classes (usually), and teachers are better (usually). Have fun with it! I would advise you to enjoy your final year of high school, because it will only get tougher starting next year ... when REAL education will begin! Good luck, and may Allah help you. | Salaams, I am now a sophmore in college. And I must say your senior year should be your best one. It is all in what you make of it. I can truly relate to the struggle of your dean while in high school, and a public one at that. But if you pray to Allah in your prayers to grant you strength to make it in the upcoming day in your actions, he will guide you and you will be more conscious of what you do. And surround yourself with funloving people who are going to bring out the best in you and your actions. And remember that the school work is important, but you are also there to enjoy yourself. | Assalamoalykum, My senior year really sucked!!! Too much stress!! In califronia you only get to take AP during ur senior year? Over here you can take them from 10th grade. Se7en, if you haven't taken all the tests required to get into college, do it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or you will go throught hell and stress like i did. Wassalam |

| slm Well I live in California and I took AP classes from the 11th grade and could have even taken them from the 10th grade if I wanted to. I took 7 AP classes total at the time, but that was all they offered. :( |

| my senior year also sucked really if i was ever soo stresss and in lack of motivation goood lord i let my grades drop like big time and then i had to work sooo hard to bring them back up and i was always an honor roll student and when i saw my first F on that report card all i did was laugh then i knew it was time to get bizzzziii hehe so i fixed it but it was a lot of stress about college and everything ' it just sucked i wouldnt wanna go back |

| Assalamoalykum, Me too Harisa! I got my scholarship revoked and then i was like forger it. So, i really didn't do any hard work, not enough to get me to a university. i go to a community college. I was supposed to take another year of french, and i was going to go to night school for it, but after the schlarshipe episode, i didn't go. i was so sad. :( oh well. i learned my lesson. inshallh, i will try for a scholarhip next semester. wassalam |

| Assalam-u-Alaikum No doubt about it... Last year of high school was one of the BEST year of my life. MY friends were great. Studies were great. I suppose there was a bit of tension about whether i should go to the states or not... but in the end i really can't see any college year beating the time i had then. Subhan-Allah. | Asalamaluykkum, man, all u guys are talking bout ur first day of school, my last day of yr 11 is in less than 2 weeks, then we got summer vacation, then in feb. we start yr 12. I liked this year, but i'm doing I.B, it's a 2 year course, and most of us didn't realy work this year, so all the heavy stuff is really gonna kill us in yr 12:) Amatullah |
