| Salaam For a while now this issue has been running through my head and i havn't really had time to put it to paper. My original idea was to publish it as a book on the lines of the proof of the existence of god from design etc but that would take too much time and it needs to be addressed Now!... So ok here goes The question is this who are you? The answer given by most atheists would be along the lines of 'O a group of atoms , particles etc all interacting to form chemical processes' ...the second question then is if that is who you say you are are you the same person you were a while ago or are you different? because you can either admit that you are either a Being Or your Becoming (heh heh heh the philosophers amongst you will understand the joke) If you assert that you are unchanging then you are saying that you are not-subject to time, and we might as well call the men in white coats now..if you are asserting however that you are changing then you are not the same person you were a instant ago..! in that case we must ask why do you behave as if you were?!...so if a person steals from you , it is irrational and cruel for you to assault him because he is not the same person..if a murderer has just killed your family why do you punish him?..he is surely innocent! If you behave in all these ways and assert that the person is the same , then you are by your words and deeds asserting that there is something that makes him unique in some way!...please explain which of your chemical processes make him so...thus as an atheist you have for me that something is eternal about him...i would call this a soul ...what would you call it?...and if you are saying that you still don't believe in the validity of the existence of the soul then recognise that you are a) a hypocrite and b) basically untrustworthy not to mention cruel and barbaric I hope this helps some muslims debate with atheists..and just tell them thats what Chachi always says..(lol Kurt Russel in 'Big Trouble in Little China') Please also read the bit below! This is in response to several articles i've seen here in different parts. Basically some atheists appear to be taking some muslims for a ride even though they may have read Witgenstein and know all these arguments are basically rhetorical devices (incidentally Al ghazali had already gone through most of this stuff before Hume was a boy) so can you please read the article i posted in answer to the question 'can god do everything' at the bebzi stand jazakallah |
