| Assalaamu alaikum, Today I am feeling a little easy, Alhamdulillah. It is amazing how everything looks and feels nicer when one's mind is relazed. It had been raining since morning but it is definitely not dark and gloomy! For the last 2 months or so I had been working on a book with my adviser (me = 90%, adviser = 10% :)). Yesterday night we sent the first draft, and now only minor work is remaining. I thought I goofed off most of summer but, Alhamdulillah, I do have something to show as work. This completion is also important because I can now concentrate on my dissertation and get out of school. I did practically nothing towards my PhD in the last 9 months as I was pulled from all sides by my adviser to do this and do that, work that did not count towards my degree. I signed the book contract with the intention that the experience will come useful later on. I have a wild idea about writing a applied mathematics or physics text book from an Islamic perspective, InshaAllah. I believe this would be useful to Muslim students who can learn about Islam and Islamic scientists and their work while studying modern day science. Please remember me in your prayers. | slm The book will inshaAllah come out early next year. However, don't expect to see it at your local bookstore! The book is an expansion of what I did for and immediately following my masters and is aimed at graduate students and researchers. It is not for a general audience and won't make the bestsellers list. :( My dissertation topic is different. I just need to focus and finish the remaining part before my adviser pushes me to do something else. Wasalaam. |
