Is it too late to ask Allah's forgiveness?

Assalam,
On Sunday, I'm going to the mosque where this lady is going to teach me how to pray and speak arabic. Now,I've done A LOT OF BAD THINGS in my 19years of living: stealing, lying, gossip, cursingetc. Nothing major like drinking, drugs, sex, etc. My question is it to late to ask Allah's forgiveness? Like on the Day Of Judgement, won't He punish me even if I pray????
I'm SO confused!

Assalamoalykum,

Oh Sarah, don't you see?!? Allah has guided you to Himself. That's His Mercy! If He didn't love you, then He wouldn't have guided you and if you hadn't made an effort to be guided, He would not have guided you. If you ask Allah to forgive you with sincere intentions, He will inshallah forgive you.

"I am just as My slave thinks I am, and I am with him if he remembers Me. IF he remembers Me in himslef, I too remember him in Myslef; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than them; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running."

And in a another version of this hadith, it is written that Allah sasy, 'If he comes to me with sins as big as the earth, I go to him with forgiveness twice that size.'

There are no words to describe how beautiful this hadith is.

Here's a ayah from the Qur'an describing how much Allah loves us. "When My slaves ask about Me, tell them I am near."

We should fear Allah, but at the same time we should have Trust and hope in Him. Remember to always think of Allah with All his attributes. He is Just but at the same time He is Forgiving and Merciful.

Wassalam

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

NO.  It is NEVER too late for Allah's forgiveness.  Doesn't matter how much wrong you've done, how much hurt you've caused, how much sin you've committed even when you did it intentionally.  It doesn't matter if your sins are enough to pile up to the sky, if you turn to Allah sincerely, He will forgive you, He will grant you His mercy.

Do not despair of the mercy of Allah.  Do not give up on it thinking it's too late or that it's hopeless because you've done so much wrong.  Yes Allah is swift in His punishment, but He is the Merciful.  Remember that, when life is so hard, when you feel like all the stupid things you've done in life are just too much, know that Allah is Merciful.

Allah is the Most Merciful.

Allah is the Most Merciful.

Allah is the Most Merciful.

He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Compassionate.

He will love you and honor you if you turn to Him.  Man, can you even imagine that?  Being loved by Allah?

You're not expected to be perfect.  We all make mistakes, we all do wrong.  Know that we're gonna stumble and fall a lot on the way, but the trick is to get back up.  Repent for what you've done, learn from your mistakes, and move on.  Keep working on yourself, keep trying.  And know that you're probably gonna fall again and again and again.  And that's alright.  Yeah, you heard me, it is alright.  As long as you keep fighting.  Keep struggling.  And keep asking Allah for forgiveness, as long as you always turn to Him.

"O child of Adam, I will continue to forgive you as long as you continue to ask Me and hope for My forgiveness.  O child of Adam, I do not care if your sins pile up to the sky; as long as you ask Me for forgiveness, I will forgive you.  O child of Adam, if you come to Me with an earth full of sins and meet Me without associating anything with Me, I will come to you with an earth full of forgiveness."

Keep ya head up, and keep making duah.
wasalaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah.

Terri,

Depends on the area.  Many mosques have special "da'wah" programs for non-Muslims where they teach them about the fundamentals of Islam.  I suggest you inquire in your own local Mosque.  If they don't have such a program, I'm sure someone at the Mosque can set up a regular time with you to teach you everything you need to know about Islam :)
