Assalamu Alaikum,

I noticed that in August, someone posted a thread that consisted of nothing but riddles.  Well, I thought I'd try it again.

Remember...think OUTSIDE the box.

1)Guess What This Means!

Ri
Poorch

2)WHAT COMES ONCE IN A MINUTE, TWICE IN A MOMENT BUT NEVER IN HUNDRED YEARS?

3)a magician claims that he can throw a ball in one direction, have it stop for a momment, and come back to him. the ball is not attached to anything, and does not hit any walls. how does he do it?

4) Is it legal for a man to marry his widow's sister?

5)a father and a son get in a car crash. the father dies and the son is severely injured. he is taken to the hospital and the surgeon comes in and says, " I can't operate on my own son. Explain this.

6)If you were locked in a car... with one hammer.. what would you do to get out..?

7)When does eleven plus two equal one?

Ok these were really easy, (not that I knew them all) so when you guys reply, I'll post some harder ones.  Take Care,
Wassalam

Ps- For any of you CS majors out there thinking about interviewing with major companies (Microsoft, Amazon) they tend to throw in some riddles as part of their interview process.

5)the surgeon is the mother

6)i would open the lock and pull the handle to open the door ... lol

7)never?

Salam,

Wow, Masha'Allah you guys rock.  I posted this right before I went to sleep, and now I just woke up and everything is already figured out (almost).  Anyways, number 1 is left.  I'll try to put up harder ones after this.

Hint for number 1:  think robin hood.

Wassalam!

1). Ri
Poorch

It means take from the Rich and give to the Poor.  i.e. the example took ch and give it to poor, hence the Robin Hood analogy who was taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor

Assalamu Alaikum,

Ok, you got them.  Did you really figure them out? Or did you know them from before?

Here are some more, maybe tougher:

1)What does this sentence say:

stand  take   2      world
i         u    throw       d

2)How many sheep must I have if I have two sheep before a sheep, two sheep after a sheep and one sheep in the middle?

3) People who make it do not wish to use it. People who need it do not buy it. People who use it do not know they are using it.
      What is it?

4) Three roommates go to the Foodlemyer Antiques Emporium and Junkyard and buy an aged lamp. The clerk says the price is $30, so they each pay $10. Before they leave, though, the clerk notices that the price is really $25. Since $5 does not split 3 ways evenly, the clerk gives each buyer $1 back, and pockets the remaining $2.
Each roommate paid $9, totaling $27, and the clerk got $2, making $29 altogether. What happened to the other $1?

5)What does these say:

a)
 0
 degree
 degree

b)

 ground
----------
6 feet

6)
Jane Higgins was walking down the high street when she bumped into an old friend. "Hello, I haven't seen or heard from you since graduation back in 1982!" said Jane, "what's happened to you?"
"Well, I got married in 1989 to somebody you wouldn't know. This is our son", said the friend who was holding hands with a little boy.
"Hello and what's your name?" said Jane to the boy.
"It's the same as Daddy's".
"Ah so it's Peter is it?" said Jane

How did Jane know?

7)
What do you throw out when you want to use it, but take in when you don't want to use it?

8)
Fool
K: Look, Fren Li, here comes that simpleton Phu Dhal Mya.
F: Why do you call him a simpleton, Kuh Ki?
K: Watch, I will show you. Here, Phu, would you like this shiny quarter, or this dollar bill?
P: I would like the shiny quarter.
K: See? He does that every time.
F: I think you are the greater fool.
K: Why?

Ok thats enough for now. Some of these are pretty easy/goofy..Good luck!
wassalam,
Nazz

Salaam,
Ok for the lamp one there isn't another dollar because 30 is only 4 more than 25. He took thirty dollars and gave back three leaving 27 and then took two leaving 25 which is the price of the lamp. You don't count the 25th dollar because that is in the price so it is really only four dollars over not five. I know that probably didn't make sense.

3. coffin
6. Peter is the father of Jane's friend (i.e. the grandfather of the child).  The reason is because this line "it's the same as Daddy's" is said by Jane's friend, not the child.

Jane's friend is a guy, not a girl, and the guy's name is Peter.  His son is Peter, hence when Jane asked the son his name, he said same as Daddy, Jane knew the dad's name was Peter

1. I understand you undertake to overthrow the underworld.  ("I" under "stand" "u" under "take" "2" over "throw" "d" under "world").

Assalamu Alaikum,

Mad props to Br. Haaris.  I could not figure that one out, totally had to cheat. (Actually I had to cheat on most of them, ladeeda.)  I thought it was " I stand"up" blah blah.."  But it wasn't :)

Mashou:

Yes, you were right.  There actually is no missing dollar.  The kids paid $27 for the item, and it actually cost $25.  The two extra dollars were kept by the clerk.  Its all a matter of how you look at the question.  The natural way, the way the question intends for us to look at it, is inaccurate. We should start counting from the 26th dollar.

Gotta get to class, Take Care, wassalam!
