There was a question by bhaloo in Madrasatul Ilm about what to say in a funeral , so I thought it might be beneficial to post these ahadeeth regarding funerals(i posted some of them there),but here is the whole collection I have:
Assalam almaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu
A friend of mine asked about funerals in islam and I thought maybe we can have a few pointers here.

I.The order of following a funeral procession:
-Narrated Al-Barraa(ibn Azib): Allah's Messenger(sala Allahu alyhi wasalam)ordered us to do seven things and forbade us from doing seven other things. He ordered us to :
1-To follow the funeral procession,
2-To visit the sick,
3-To accept invitations,
4-To help the oppressed,
5-To fulfill the oaths,
6-To return the greetings,
7-To respond to a sneezer(saying "yarhamuka Allah)-may Allah be merciful to you, provided the sneezer says(ALhamdulillah).
He forbade us :
1-To use silver utensils and dishes,
2-To wear golden rings,
3-To wear silk clothing,
4-Dibaj(silk cloth),
5-Qassi(silk cloth),
6-Istabraq(silk cloth).
(Al-Bukhary).
--------------------------------------------
II.Seeing the deceased person after he has been put in his shroud:
-Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah(radia Allahu anhuma):When my father was martyred,I lifted the sheet from his face and the people around me forbade me to do so,but the prophet(salaAallahu alyhi wasalam) did not forbid me.Then my Aunt FAtima began weeping and the prophet said:"It is all the same whether you weep or not,The angels were shading him continiuosly with their wings till you shifted him from the (field)."(Bukahry).
--------------------------------------------
III.Washing the body of the deceased:
-Narrated Umm Atiya Al-Ansariah :Allah's Messenger came to us when his daughter died and said:"Wash her three, five,or more, times with water and sidr(lote tree leaves),if you think it is required, and sprinkle camphor or something of it on her at the end;and when you finish notify me."So when we finished we informed him and he gave us his
waist- sheet, and told us to shroud her."
(Bukhary).
And in another version of the hadeeth the following was added:
Narrated Umm Attiya:Allah's Messenger concerning his dead daughter's bath, said:"Start with the right side, and the parts which are washed in ablution."She added we combed her hair and divided it into three braids."
--------------------------------------------
IV.White cloth for the shroud:
-Narrated Aisha(radia Allahu anha):"Allah's Messenger was shrouded in three Yemeni white (sahulliya)pieces of cotton cloth, and in them was neither a shirt or a turban."
-Narrated Ibn Abbass,Whila a man was standing in Arafat(for HAjj)with Allah's Messenger, the man fell from his mount and broke his neck(and he died). The prophet said:"Wash him with water and sidr, and shroud him in two pieces of cloth, and neither perfume him nor cover his head fo he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection saying:"Labayka Allahuma Labayk".(Bukhary).
--------------------------------------------
V.Women accompanying the funeral procession:
-Narrated Umm Atiya,"WE were forbidden to accompany funeral processions, but not strictly."
---------------------------------------------
VI.Standing for the funeral procession:
-Narrated Amir ibn Rabia, the prophet sala Allahu alyhi wasalam said:"If any one of you sees a funeral procession, and he is not going along with them, then he should stand and remain standing until till he gets behind it or it leaves him behind,or the coffin is put down, before it goes ahead of him."(Bukhary).
---------------------------------------------
VII.Salat Al-JAnaza:
There are four takbeer in this salat, there is no bowing nor prostrating,it is all done standing:
a)After the first takbeer, one should recite suta Al-Fatiha.
b)After the second takbeer, one should recite salat ala Annabi(second tashahud in salat ).
c)After the third takbeer ,one should invoke Allah for the dead(pray for the dead).
d)After the fourth takbeer,we turn to the right and say "Salam alykum warahmatullah".
----------------------------------------
*women also can see the deceased.
-About standing for non-muslims ,the prophet sala Allahu alyhi wasalam stood up when a funeral procession of a Jew was passing by and he was told that he was not a muslim and the prophet said that it was a human being, but there is a hadeeth that came later that annulled this:

It is narrated on the authority of Ali (radia Allahu anhu):That he said:"We saw the prophet may peace be upon him, stood up for a bierand we also stood up;he sat down and we also sat down."(muslim,2102).
In the footnotes page 456(sahih Muslim)it says:
"Hafiz ibn Al-Qayim in his book "Zad Al- Maa'd",subscribes to the view that there is no contradiction between the two hadeeths. He says both the actions(that of sitting or standing) are admissible. The act of standing has been narrated to show that it is "Mustahab",(an act whose neglect is not punishable by Allah, but whose performance is rewarded.),and abandoning it denotes that it is permissible.

------------------------------------------------
SUPPLICATION(duaá )for the dead in the funeral prayer:
-Jubair ibn Nufair said :I heard it from Auf ibn Malik that the prophet (sala Allahu alyhi wasalam) said prayer on the dead body, and I remember the prayer:
"O Allah ,forgive him and have mercy opon him, give him peace and absolve him.
Receive him with honour and make his grave spacious.Wash him with water, snow and hail, cleanse him from his faults as is cleaned a white garment from impurity.Requit him with an abode more excellent than his abode, with a family better than his,and with a mate better than his mate.Admit him to he Garden.Protect him from the torment of the grave and the torment of the Fire."(Auf bin Malik said : I earnestly desired that I were the dead body.)(Muslim).
-A hadeeth like this was narrated with another chain of transmitters.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The praising of the deceased by the people:
1-Narrated Anass bin Malik(radia ALlahu anhu)
"A funeral procession passed and the people praised the deceased, the prophet(peace be upon him) said: "It has been affirmed to him."
Then another funeral procession passed and the people spoke badly of the deceased. The prophet said: "It has been affirmed to him."
Umar ibn Al-Khattab asked Allah's Messenger "What has been affirmed?"
He replied: "You have praised the first one,so Paradise has been affirmed to him.And you have spoken badly about the other,so Hell has been affirmed to him.You people are Allah's witnesses on Earth."(Bukhary).
2-Narrated Umar(radia Allahu anhu):The prophet said: "If four persons testify piety of any Muslim,Allah will grant him Paradise."
We asked: "If three persons testified his piety?"
He replied: "Even three."
We then asked: "If two?"
He replied: "Even two."
We did not ask him regarding one witness."
(Bukhary).

-Supplication for one afflicted with calamity:
To Allah we belong and unto him is our return. O Allah, recompense me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better.
“Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi raji’oun,Allahuma ajirni fi museebati w’khluf lee khayran minha”.

-When closing the eye of the deceased:

O Allah forgive (the name of the deceased is mentioned )and raise his rank among the rightly guided, and be a successor to whom he has left behind, and forgive him and us. O Lord of the worlds.Make spacious his grave and illuminate it for him.

------------------------------------------
-Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:"A Muslim has six duties towards another Muslim:
1-When you meet him salute him.
2-When he issues an invitation to you, accept it.
3-When he asks your advice, give it to him.
4-When he sneezes and praises Allah, say:'Allah have mercy on you.'
5-When he is ill visit him.
6-When he dies folloe him to his grave."
(Muslim).
---------------------------------------------

-Prophet Muhammad said:"None of you must wish
for death;neither one who does well, for perhaps he may do still more good;nor one who does ill,for perhaps he may seek to please Allah."(Bukhary).

---------------------------------------------

-Prophet MUhammad said:"Do not sit on graves and do not pray facing them."(Muslim).

---------------------------------------------

-Prophet MUhamamd said:"If anyone comforts one who has been afflicted,he will have a reward equivalent to his."(Tirmithy and Ibn Majah).

---------------------------------------------
Dua'a when passing by a muslim's grave:
-Prophet Muhammad(peace upon him said):"Peace be upon you, inhabitants of the graves,Allah forgive us and you.You have gone before us and we are coming after."(Tirmithy).

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him )said:"He who beats the cheeks, tears the front of the garments, and cries out as people did in pre-Islamic times, does not belong to us."(Bukhary and Muslim).
-WHEN CLOSING THE EYE OF THE DECEASED:
O Allah forgive (the name of the deceased is mentioned )and raise his rank among the rightly guided, and be a successor to whom he has left behind, and forgive him and us O Lord of the worlds .Make spacious his grave and illuminate it for him.
---------------------------------------------
-Supplications for the dead at the funeral prayer:
1 “O Allah forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah whom amongst us You keep alive ,then let such a life be upon Islam, and whom amongst us You take unto Yourself, then let such a death be upon faith .O Allah do not deprive us of his reward and do not let us stray after him.”

2- “O Allah so-an-so is under your care and protection, so protect him from the trial of the grave and the torment of The Fire . Indeed You are faithful and truthful. Forgive him and have mercy on him, surely You are the Oft-Forgiving , The Most-Merciful.”

3- “O Allah ,Your servant and the son of Your maidservant is in need of Your mercy and You are without need for his punishment. If he was righteous ,then increase his reward and if he was wicked then look over his sins.”
---------------------------------------------
-If the deceased is a BABY OR A CHILD(not having reached the age of puberty):

1- “O Allah make him a preceding reward ands a stored treasure for his parents, and an answered intercessor. O Allah through him, make heavy their scales and magnify their reward. Unite him with the righteous believers, place him under the care of Ibraheem, and protect him by Your mercy from the torment of Hell.”

2- “O Allah make him a preceding reward, a prepayment and a recompense for us.”
