sorry if this is the worng place to post this
but someone made a rather funny but considerable remark

she said 'i think brothers should wear niqaabs, i mean there is beauty in males aswell as females,   if a sister wears a hijaab or is fully niqaabed then there is not much for men to see
but whereas she can see them...so she has to lower her gaze more...so it would make life easier if they just wore niqaabs like some sisters do...'

interesting.. what d'ya all think?

Wa'alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

If it was truly needed, it would have been ordained by Allah.  A woman who is modest and covers herself properly will NOT stare at men.  First, there is natural inclination of "restraint" in a woman that prevents her from doing that.  Second, her righteousness will strengthen that natural instinct and will further prevent her.

Furthermore, I really think that lowering of the gaze is more stressed for men than women.  This is just my opinion by the way, and you may disagree.  The reason I think that way is because of how limited a man's awrah is.  It only covers from the navel to the knee.  That leaves the chest, the calves, the biceps ... pretty much all the "attractive" parts of his body open!  Why is it that Allah (swt) did not ask the man to cover more of his body so that the women would not be attracted?

I think the reason is simply because the instinct of a man, which contains boldness and advancement, is not present in a woman.  She is shy and restrained.  She will not approach a man and molest him, for example.

Because these rulings of hayaa are put there by Allah to prevent the greater harms in society, I think it only makes sense that the awrah of woman be more inclusive than the man's.  Because it is the man that is "uncontrollable."  Women are more self-restrained.

<I can't believe I just said that!>

Wassalamu alaikum.

Assalamoalykum,

No need for men to do niqaab. Women don't stare at men as much as men stare at women. :)

However, a lot of the men do need to veil theri mind.

Jazakallahu khayran Arsalan for your input, you too Saleema.
But Safiya:
this person who said this is really funny,I mean doesn't she have some common sense???
A man is asked to work to feed his family and he is asked to do jihad and he is asked to do all the stuff outside the house, men are supposed to be outside all the time, how are they ever going to do all that with hijab???

Assalamoalykum,

LOL. Widad, that was really funny!!
Man! I don't get jokes which are pretty straightforward to everyone else. And I laugh
things that most other people wouldn't probably laugh at.???????       In conclusion, I think I
am the only sane person on this planey. (Ok lightning At Nite, I will be kind enough to include you.)   :)   :)

The beard is the "veil" of the brother, as in it identifies him as a Muslim from the outside.  Maybe that's what Abdullah meant(?)

As-salaamu alaikum

Yah the beard is the humbling factor for brothers. People dont realize how much it helps us brothers! By the way i have heard that some better looking brothers started covering their heads, not the turban+kufi headdress, but more like a sort of sheet on their head, more similar to a hijab on sisters.

Wa salaamu alaikum
