Islam began strange

As salaamualykum, this is just a breif, beneficial article by shaykh Al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah which i transalted a while back, that i decided to post as a means of  keeping the "vibes alive" i.e. trying to help each other remain firm on this haqq in turbulent times like these for the muslim, as Allah commanded us in surah Al-Asr to advise each other in truth and patience.

Shaykh al -islam ibn Taymiyyah said in the explanation of the  saheeh hadeeth "islam began stranger, and it is going to return strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers"  this does not mean that when islam becomes something strange the we can abandon it. To the contrary, is is Allah says "and whoever seeks a religion other islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he will be amongst the losers", and also Allah says in his Furqan "verily the religion with Allah is islam" and in a next ayat " o you who believe, fear Allah the true fear(that he deserves), and do not die except as muslims"

This is why when islam began as something strange there were no other acceptable religion, as in the hadeeth of Eyad ibn hemaar( or hammar ) the Messanger( may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said " verily Allah looked  at the people of the earth, and he hated them all, arab and non-arab, except the remaining few from the people of the book"

Thus, The hadeeth indicates to us that when islam become strange, that those who stick to it are in a bad state, to the opposite, they are the happiest of people as the end of the hadeeth points out " give gald tidings to the strangers" and this glid tididings tuba is take from the arabic word toyyib which means good. and in the ahkira they will have the highest level after the prophets upon them be peace.

As for in this life it is as Allah says in his book" o you prophet, sufficient for you is Allah, and those who follow you from the believers" and also Allah says" and whoever fears Allah, he will make a way out for him, and he will provide for him from where he never expected"   so the muslim who follows the messanger, Allah is sufficient for him and he is his guardian wherever he may be, whatever time it may be.

This is why one finds that the muslims who stick to islam in kuffar countries, they are the leaders, to the extent that they practice their islam. So if evil befalls them, then it is because of their sins. And even the mushrikeen and the peolple of the book, when see muslims standing firm and strong upon islam, they honour them, hold them in prestige and they leave them alone.

The muslims were like this (strange) in the beginning of islam and so shall it be throughout the ages.

Indeed man cannot avoid being afflicted by evil in this dunya, however, Allah constantly blesses his creation, but the evil which afflicts the muslim is less(than that which afflicts the kufaar) and the good which reaches him is greater. The early muslims were afflicted by harm from the kuffar, but what the kuffar recieved in terms of destruction was far more greater.

Then shaykh Al-Islam went on further by saying just as Allah had prohibited the prophet (saw) to get depressed and feel constricted, from those who had not entered into islam in the early stages, likewise in the ending stages. So the believer is prohibited from getting deppressed from the plots of the disbeilevers. Then shaikh Al-islam made a very imporant point that applies especially to us in these times, where he said " and a lot of people whenever they see a munkar, or the situation of the muslims has changed,(like the situation we see today in many places where muslims are weak and oppressed) they become impatient and the wail like people of affliction; all this is prohibited (from doing), to the contrary, one is commanded with patience,  to trust in Allah and to be firm on this deen as Allah says" AND WORSHIP YOUR LORD UNTIL THERE COMES TO YOU THE CERTAINITY(DEATH)" and also to believe in Allah with those who have taqwa and those who do good, verily the end result is for the muttaqeen. And indeed what befalls a person is from his sins;  so be patient. Verily the promise of Allah is true and seek forgiveness for your sins and praise Allah night and day. majmoo al-fatawa by ibn taymayyah, volume 18, pg.291.

Assalamoalykum,

So, this is what you were translating. Cool. May Alah reward you for it. Ameen.

This is a good reminder to the people, especially with the recent situation in the Muslim world, that Allah won't just leave us here to perish. We should always remember that Allah is Just and He hears the cries of His servants who are being oppressed and His help is on the way.

Wassalam

Jazak Allah khairen for the reminder.  Are there more works of Ibn Tamaiyya (ra) and Ibn Qayyim (ra) you have translated that you will share with us insha'Allah?  I'm not referring to the standard texts that one can find in the book store but others that are not available, such as Al-Jawab al Kafi.
