Assalam O Alikum I just saw the video clip linked in jannah. I feel sad and angry. I think its time to take a step, we should just waste time only talking and exchanging our views or waiting for the leaders to do something. I think we (us) should take a step against the Israel immediately. I don't know what step to take. I live this decision on the wise elders of Jannah. But please let do something. May Allah All Mighty help us and strengthen our hearts and soul to fight against Israel. Ameen. Mohammad Ali Pakistan. |

slm, this is a very good post on what we can do: Suffering in Palestine Demands Action In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful CAIR ACTION ALERT #272 SUFFERING IN PALESTINE DEMANDS ACTION (WASHINGTON, DC - 10/10/2000) CAIR is calling on mosques, Islamic centers and activists around America to show support for the Palestinian people and for Al-Aqsa Mosque. IMMEDIATE ACTIONS REQUESTED: 1) MAKE DU'AH for those suffering in Palestine. 2) HOLD A RALLY IN YOUR AREA. Rallies have already been held in cities around North America. More are needed to counteract pro-Israel propagandists. Noontime demonstrations could take place in high-traffic areas, in front of local Federal buildings or at Israeli consulates. Contact local media to have them cover the rally. Call TV stations and talk to the "assignment desk." Contact "city editors" at newspapers and "news directors" at radio stations. Fax a copy of your news release to the "daybook editor" of the local Associated Press office. (See attached sample news release. Inform CAIR of your plans so that we can let others know.) 3) ISSUE A STATEMENT to the media at the rally. TALKING POINTS: * Justice is a precondition for peace. It was Israeli attacks on Al-Haram Al- Sharif, settlement building, land confiscation, and ongoing denial of Palestinian rights that provoked the violence. * American weapons are being used to kill Palestinians. To avoid being implicated in Israeli crimes against civilians, America must cut off aid to Israel. * Palestinians live under Apartheid-like conditions. They have the right to defend their land and homes. * Well-armed troops should not be compared to unarmed demonstrators. It is Palestinians who are dying. * There should not be double standard that allows Palestinian civilians to be killed without protest. * Palestinians are not obligated give up their land to the occupier or to die quietly. 4) WRITE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR AND EDITORIALS. Call the local newspaper to ask for their guidelines. In general, keep your letter to no more than 150- 250 words (7-800 words for editorials). Be authoritative. Speak on behalf of an organization. Pick one main thought or theme and resist the temptation to include other points. Avoid rhetoric. State the purpose of the letter, give background information, and then suggest a solution. 5) SET UP A MEETING between Muslim leaders and the newspaper's editorial board. Plan for the meeting. Get together for a strategizing session and assign duties. Present your case. Be clear about goals. Stick to your points. Conclude with specific requests. 6) LET THE MEDIA KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN RELATIVES of killed and injured Palestinians. Contact CAIR to give names and contact information for these relatives. 7) RAISE THIS ISSUE with any interfaith groups in your area. Ask that these groups take a public position on the crisis. These groups have asked Muslims to take stands on other issues. It is now their turn to act. 8) SPONSOR A PALESTINIAN CHILD orphaned in the recent massacres. Contact: Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development 525 International Pkwy Ste. 509 Richardson, TX 75081, U.S.A. Contact the representative's local office to ask for the meeting. Meet with a key staff member if the representative is unavailable. - COPY, POST, DISTRIBUTE, AND ANNOUNCE - [SAMPLE NEWS RELEASE] [YOUR ORGANIZATION'S NAME, ADDRESS AND CONTACT INFO] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - [DATE] --- MEDIA ADVISORY --- LOCAL MUSLIMS RALLY FOR JERUSALEM WHAT: On [DAY AND DATE], [LOCATION]-area mosques will hold a rally outside [SITE] to protest Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians and holy sites in Jerusalem. Rally participants will demand that America cut economic aid to Israel and that the U.S. government denounce, and not turn a blind-eye toward, Israeli use of excessive force against civilians and desecration of Islamic holy sites. In the past week, more than 90 people, mostly Palestinians (including children as young as two), have been killed and hundreds have been wounded. The killings occurred following an intentionally provocative violation of Al- Haram Al-Sharif ("Noble Sanctuary") in Jerusalem by Israeli right-wing extremist Ariel Sharon. (Sharon led Israeli troops during a 1953 massacre of Palestinians in the West Bank. In 1982, he permitted the killing of Palestinian civilians in refugee camps near Beirut, Lebanon.) Jerusalem is Islam's third holiest city, after Mecca and Medinah in the Arabian Peninsula. Muslim and Christian Palestinians are routinely barred by Israel from religious sites in Jerusalem.
