| March and Rally in Washington Protesting Isreal's Aggression (Plainfield IN, Oct 13, 2000) Islamic Society of North America as part of The National Task Force for the Crisis in Jerusalem (NTFCJ), a coalition of national American Muslim organizations, urges the American Muslim community to attend a peaceful march and rally in front of the White House in protest of Israel's aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque and its escalating use of excessive violence toward the Palestinian people. The march, which will be held on October 23, 2000, at 11:00 A.M., will begin at freedom Plaza and move to Lafayette Park in front of the White House where a rally will begin at 12:00 noon. The date of the event coincides with the historic event of Al-Isra' wa Al-Mi'raj, the night in which Prophet Muhammad went on the miraculous journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and ascended to heaven from the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem near Al-Aqsa Mosque. | Does anyone plan on going? Insha Allah I will be there. I would imagine that organizers expect about 50,000 Muslims to attend especially since 15,000-20,000 showed up in NYC for a rally on friday! |

| I think this is great. I was talking with a friend of mine about this, we were wondering since so many can not come to Washington DC, what if we try to get muslims around the nation to protest on the same day. to march and protest in thier citys. How could we do this? If you think this is a good idea can I have suggestions on how to do this. Thanks Salam Rae |

| there has been a change of date for the DC rally..it will now be on October 28th! same time..i recently found out. MODERATORS NOTE: Don't know if this information is valid. |

| I am very disappointed with the people who beleiv that rallies will solve the problem of Muslims all around the world... COME ON PEOPLE!!! Think about it... This is just a way to relieve your frustrations without actully resolving the real problem.. May Allah help us all w'salam Mateen |

This is just a way to relieve your frustrations without actully resolving the real problem..[/quote]Brother/Sister, if you know anything about the history of black people in this country, you should know that peaceful demonstrations do work - as long as they are done in a well-organized manner. If nothing else, the peaceful demonstrations such as rallies provide awareness to the rather ignorant masses about what is going on in Palestine. The only thing that they know is what they hear in the biased/often-ambiguous media. It is our job to make them aware of the facts. And a rally is a good way of doing that because it catches media attention, gets you interview opportunities with them, and thus gets your views in the public eye. Furthermore, if enough people show up and these rallies achieve the success that they did for the Black people, then it is not far-fetched to say that Muslims can become a voice in dictating American foreign policy with regards to Palestine. If you can make Washington believe that you have enough voting power with you, and that you're on a mission with an organized bunch, then trust me - they will listen ... and obey! Wassalamu alaikum. |

| Assalamoalykum, Thank your Arsalan! Words of wisdom, adhere to this people. If you don't have a better solution, then you work with the only one that you have. A very simple and basic rule in the world. So if you don't want to help with the only possible solution that we have, then no one has the right to complain or discourage others from participating.
