| ======================================= Assalamu alaikum (peace be upon you), InshaAllah (god willing) this email reaches all of you in good health. As some of you may know, the UMMA Free Clinic was established in South Central Los Angeles to provide healthcare to the people who cannot afford insurance and do not qualify for federal or state assistance. In this area where more than 50% of the populations does not have health coverage and most residents have incomes close to or below the poverty level, the UMMA Free Clinic provides primary health care to the surrounding population free of charge. Unfortunately, after four years of operation, the clinic is running short on funds, and we may have to close our doors at the end of December. We currently have grant applications pending, but approval and allocation of funds takes time. Meanwhile, we are holding a fundraiser (see flyer below) and are asking for donations. Anything you can give will be helpful and greatly appreciated. If you would like more information on the clinic, please take a look at our website at www.ummaclinic.org.
