While the world watched Israeli gunmen take aim, shoot, and murder 12-year-old Mohammed Al-Durrah, American sympathy for the Palestinian suffering started to climb. This sympathy needed to be squashed if Israel was going to win the US public opinion war. So they struck. All terrorist experts clearly stated that the USS Cole bombing operation would take months of planning. An organization would need all the resources: money, US naval intelligence information, and time. These are all items the Palestinians do not have, but Israel does. A few months ago something happened that preceded the USS Cole bombing. A high-ranking naval intelligence officer with access to top-secret information defected to Israel, offering several duffel bags full of US naval intelligence information to the Israeli government. Emphasis needs to be placed on the fact that this was top-secret US naval intelligence information from a US Navy Lt. Col. intelligence officer. Official reports issued by Israel stated that they turned down Lt. Col. Jeremiah Mattysse -- an obvious lie considering that only a few months earlier Israeli Mossad agents were caught red-handed bugging the White House. Also, the US Ambassador in Israel, Martin Indyk, was recently stripped of his security clearance and relieved from his post for "mishandling classified materials" dating from his first tour as Ambassador to his suspension. And let's not forget Jonathan Pollard. Although secret codes and other sensitive information may have been rendered useless once Lt. Col. Mattysee defected, scheduled refueling of every naval vessel cannot be re-arranged as easily. This made the docking of the USS Cole a prime target for a media diversion to drive sympathy for Palestinians - who are being slaughter on international television - down the tubes. Shortly after the USS Cole bombing, Israeli propaganda ambassadors flooded US cities and met with journalists to supply them with their side of the story. The results of these visits were countless articles littered with distortions and lies. One such lie, as printed in the LA Times, was that the violence in Jerusalem was "unprovoked." This is a shocking change of tune from earlier this month when the "visit" of Ariel Sharon was clearly described in every newspaper as "provocative." Other distortions were opinion pieces, like the one by William Murchison published in The Dallas Morning News, that blatantly linkedthe US Cole bombing to the Palestinian uprising -- despite the fact that all experts clearly stated that this could not have been done by any Palestinian group due to the months of planning it required. Articles, like those found in The Salt Lake Tribune, are blasting headlines like "Threat to Immediate Future is Radical, Fundamentalist Islam" which inlcude statements like "The United States had better declare war on radical Islam." These events are almost exactly as they happened after the World Trade Center bombing. Before the World Trade Center bombing, sympathy for Palestinians was also climbing. Directly after this incident, Israeli propaganda ambassadors - like Islamophobe Steven Emerson - began their campaign of terror on the Muslim community in American. They published articles, books, and even documentaries that painted Islam as a terrorist religion and Muslims as war-crazy animals with the ultimate destruction of the USA at the center of their existence. Why would Israel go this far? American support is extremely vital to Israel. Without it goes over five and a half billion dollars in US financial aid, military equipment and supplies, as well as US congressional support. The only deterrent Israel has against its neighbors is pressure from the United States, and even this may be slowly losing its effect. It wouldn't be the first time Israel has attacked an American naval vessel. On June 8, 1967, which was the fourth day of the Arab-Israeli six-day war, Israeli jets and motor torpedo boats launched a crippling attack on the USS Liberty killing 34 American soldiers and wounded 171 more, many of which were maimed for life. Of course, this incident was swept under the rug. It is also interesting to note that the United States turned a blind eye to both the White House bugging incident and the Lt. Col Mattysse incident, while knowing both incidents were serious breaches of national security that could seriously endanger the lives of American soldiers around the world.And so it did. It's obvious the United States government cares more for Israel than its own soldiers. |
