| Sooo... Before we got home from the airport, I stop at Price Chopper to get something. Jannah said she was going to stay in the car. No less than 5 minutes later, she comes into the store... Me: Jannah, I thought you were gonna stay in the car? Jannah: It happened again. Me: What? Jannah: I got out to stretch, and... The FOB encounter #93495837(true story) FOB: Anta hatha mafish fee ha wa laa anto bekhair jamal wa khair? JANNAH: ............. Laa !?! FOB: Mya fee ha wa min untum geduun salaam jazaka? JANNAH: Laa ! Laa...laa arabi? FOB: OHHHH, you no speech arrabii? JANNAH: No. FOB: Verr arre you frrom? JANNAH: India. FOB: Oh. Arre you chrristian? JANNAH: No. I'm Muslim. FOB: Oh. Vaat arre you doing? JANNAH: Waiting for my brother. He should be here...let me go see if he's ok. FOB: Ma'sala--...(Jannah runs away) |

| slm if us sisters posted all the unfortunate fob encounters us sister face this thread would be never ending. now i need to think of the funniest fob story i know (since there are too many). |

| slm Se7en you remembered that encounter, pretty tramatic? I remember when lightningatnite related the story to me a few months back. ;) The "I" in the story refers to lightning though. PTBM: FOB = fresh off the boat, and usually refers to those people from india,pakistan, bangladesh that have just come here, and have a lot of cultural baggage from the old country. Naturally when you go to a different country, there are different customs. ABCD: this means American Born Confused Desi. |

| FOB--rather rude term i think that is offensive to call people FOB's and then laugh about it but then again thats just my opinion lol |

| Assalamoalykum, Mashallah Harisa, thanks for the reminder. If Prophet Muhammad, Peace and blessings be upon him, were here at this moment, he would have told us the same thing. It isn't nice to make fun of people. There was a sahabi once, (companion of the Prophet), who was climbing a date tree and the other sahabis laughed at him because he had extremely thin legs. Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, rbuked them and said, (not exact words), that his thin legs would carry him to Jannah faster than theirs on the Final Day. (or something like that). wassalam |
