Salaam Everyone

Wazzup Jannah...lol Zdravo...yes thats a way to say hello but you wouldnt hear very many Muslims in Bosnia saying that...well at least the religious ones...dont ask me why..Muslims in Bosnia say "Merhaba" i think this is a Turkish word...and well the youth we say...Cao..pronounced Chao hehehe

Kako si ti? means How are you? Dobro a ti. means good and you? hehe there u go Jannah

Hmm the language...right now yes it is reffered to as "Bosnian" and the same language is reffered to as "Croatian" and "Serbian"

originally it was called Serbo-Croatian
this was before Yugoslavia split up

so now after the war...Bosnian Muslims call it Bosnian....Serbs call it Serbian and Croats call it Croatian...all are ofcourse correct LOL

There u have it I speak three languages besides English and some Spanish hahahhahaha lol
well technically LOL

wow that gives me a total of 5 woo hoooo hehehe

Arsalan...lol....i see you are wondering what toodles means ahhahahhaha

toodles...a silly little way to say buhh bye hehehe

i dont think i can come up with a better definition for you LOL

well ok thats all for now

yo Arsalan check it out:

Harisa- Yahk shee mahsh?[/quote]

Yahk a what?? lol Just because I'm Bosniannn doesnt mean i speak every language in the worlddd...

Mann i just had written a longgggg posttt and i accidentaly closed explorer grrrrrrrrrrrrrr hahah

here we go againnnn

Why did i leave the religion...fasten your seat belts:

Yes both of my parents are Muslim..not very religious though..my mom is more religious then my dad and yet she isnt very religious herself lol

sooo .... In Bosnia i went to sunday school ofcourse...all kids did..it was sort of fun...more of a socializing thing then anything...but anywayzz...after the war had started we moved to Croatia and there i continued Sunday School...and when i moved here to the US a little bit over 7 years ago...i also attended sunday school in the Islamic Center of Des Moines....just for a short while though...i was about 13 when i lost my faith completely...i stopped going to Sunday School and my mom was tellin me to go but i refused cuzz i couldnt go and pretend i believed in something i didnt...so i didnt go..for a while then i was saying "god doesnt exist..he cant possibly" and as time went by i started ssayin "there is a chance God does exist" soo for a long time i've considered myself Agnostic...and it wasn't up until very recently that i have decided to reasearch Islam again and see where it takes me....how did this all of a sudden happen?? i think for the most part it was my "very religious Christian roommate" who was always preaching to me and trying to convert me to Christianity...i know a bit about Christianity and i know i would never convert to it..so i told her she can stop with her effort cuzz i am her lost cause..so she has..but yesterday she told me she was glad that i am searching...even though its not her religion...

so Why did i lose my faith? i dont think it happened like abruptly..one day i wake up and i no longer believe..i think it started with the "WAR"

and progressed up until i was 13

I always asked myself questions like:
If God exists how could have he let all those bad things happen?

each time i asked i had something different in mind

from burned children in concentration camps to raped women and very young girls to tortured, starved, humiliated, and mutilated men in concentration camps, and overall the slaughter that went  on

Imagine 12 and 13 year olds walking around the Mosque in Zagreb, Croatia...pregnant because they were raped in the war...

and thats not the youngest age they were getting raped at..i have heard cases of girls who were only 8 years old

a 13 year old  girl in my town...was "gang raped" you could say
she was kept in a Ware House where she was raped daily by a group of men--Serb Soldiers--taking turns for a few weeks until she died..and then they burned the Ware House down along with her in it....yes sad but true very true

I havent had any of these bad things happen to me or my family .. we were the lucky ones that got out of Bosnia 3 months after the war started...

I'm sure u want to ask if I blame god for all those bad things?
No i dont...I blame those who are guilty of it..those Serb monsters...but i do ask
Why didnt Allah do anything to stop them?

ok im gettin carried away with this issue again...i got plenty of "war stories" if anyone wants to hear them

good lorrdiee look at the time...i better go
im goin home for the weekend..but dont worry ill be posting from home too hehehe

Well slm i hope that has answered your question

if not..ask again in greater detail

take care everyone

As salaamu alaykum, its heart-warming news to hear that hear that you returned to islam after a state of doubt and misunderstanding, may Allah help you to understand this deen. Anyways, i don't know what Harisa is in Bosnian, but i can tell you it means someone who is very/always eager in arabic, thats why Allah says in surah Yusuf says " And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly {law harasta}", the arabic root word being "harasa" - he was eager, "yahrusu" - he is eager, and "harisah" being the female equivelent. Some food for thought.

Harisa ,I answered you by message.
1-Harisa means guard(female),Haris means guard(male),harasa=guarded.{All this if the "h"
is like yuhibu(love).
2-If it is H as in 'huwa'meaning he,then it will mean what Harisa said before about the Tunisian hot paste, also another dish in the Eastern province in Saudi Arabia also called hareesa ,made of wheat kernels and meat, one of the main Ramadan dishes over here.
3-If the name was written with a SS as in "sabireen"
then it is as Hisham Assing explained.

Shukran, Widad for that nice pointer, however, sister Harisa if you truly believe Allah is your lord and and Him alone deserves to be worhshipped, and Muhammad is his last messenger, then your a muslim, because with Allah there are only 3 catergories of people, muslim, kuffar and hippocrites, who are in fact disbelievers, so that makes it two, and where do you see yourself in this picture? And the only deed {by not doing it} that can put someone out of the fold of islam is not praying as the messenger (saw)said "the bond between us and them is the salah, and whoever leaves off the salah has disbelieved" and in another hadeeth " and as one tabieen said "the companions did not used to see {doing} any acts as disbelief, except not praying" so i advise you if you truly believe Allah is your lord and and Him alone deserves to be worhshipped, and Muhammad is his last messenger, then you should try to learn how to pray, and inshallah everything will fall into place.

Salaam Alaykum Harisa

hi, i've been away from the board lately, but nice to meet...:)

i'd just like to say, if Allah believes u r a muslim then u r my Sister in islam and will always be(inshallah)

and if u do not consider yourself a muslim,
then may Allah guide u to his Straight Path, as u r in essence still my sister (we're both from Adam(as) and i do not wish 4 u Allah punishment as that would hurt me much...

if you do believe in God, as u know Ramadhan(The month of Guidance) is coming, pray to God that he guides u, inshallah i will be praying 4 u too...:)

May Peace and guidance be upon

take care

Assalam-u-Alaikum

bro. Assing, I believe that during the caliphate of Abu Bakr (RA), he fought the apostates who refused to pay the Zakaah... if memory serves me correctly he said that he would fight anybody who made a distinction between Salah and Zakaah.

There is also a hadeeth where to Prophet (SAW) said that whoever has the ability to do the Hajj and does not do it then there is no difference between him and the Ahl-Al Kitab (Jews and Christians).  If anybody knows of an expalanation of this hadeeth please do inform.

May Allah (AWJ) forgive me for anything incorrect which I have said.  May He guide us all to the straight path.  Ameen.

It says that in the Qur'an all over. I am not sure if it is said directly or not. I think this is implied.  I don't know......

As salaamu alykum, sis' Malika as for your question, Allah has already given the answer, no need for me to say anything here, "They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: Allah gives you {all} a legal decision" {n-nisa':79} wherein He puts human beings into 3 basic catergories as He describes in Surah Al Baqarah, first of all we have muslims,"A.L.M.

2. This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah.

3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

5. They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who will prosper.

Then we have the kuffar:

6. As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.

7. Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).

And finally we have the hippocrites, the whole next 12 ayats are about them:

8. Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day;" but they do not (really) believe.

9. Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise (it) not!

10. In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).

11. When it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "Why, we only Want to make peace!"

12. Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not.

13. When it is said to them: "Believe as the others believe:" They say: "Shall we believe as the fools believe?" Nay, of a surety they are the fools, but they do not know.

14. When they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe;" but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: "We are really with you: We (were) only jesting."

15. Allah will throw back their mockery on them, and give them rope in their trespasses; so they will wander like blind ones (To and fro).

16. These are they who have bartered Guidance for error: But their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction,

17. Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness. So they could not see.

18. Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path).

19. Or (another similitude) is that of a rain-laden cloud from the sky: In it are zones of darkness, and thunder and lightning: They press their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunder-clap, the while they are in terror of death. But Allah is ever round the rejecters of Faith!

20. The lightning all but snatches away their sight; every time the light (Helps) them, they walk therein, and when the darkness grows on them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could take away their faculty of hearing and seeing; for Allah hath power over all things".

Thus, the whole quran dicusses these 3 types of people from Al Fatihah all the way to An Nas, or you probably have a different Quran from me, anyways, as soon as you find a fourth catergory let me know inshallah. Btw, have a nice day.

As for Uzer you were indeed correct"Abu Bakr (RA), he fought the apostates who refused to pay the Zakaah", however these arabs apostated amongst other factors, was the fact that they denied the obligation of giving the zakat to other than to the messenger (saw)as the hadeeth in Al Bukhari indicates, and to deny any pillar of islam or eeman is outright disbelieve, thus these arabs apostated not because they were miserly with the zakat, but because the denied the institution as a whole, that is why the scholar are unanimous that if a person does not pay zakat that does not put him out of the fold of islam,{as long as he does not make it halal to do so}, as opposed to salah, even if a person admits its obligation and still does not pray at all, then it is as the messenger (saw) said "the bond between us and them is the salah, so whoever leaves it off has disbelieved"
