Assalaamu alaikum,

I am 95% done! I have memorized the whole thing but need to recite it a few more times to make sure. InshaAllah, by tomorrows deadline I would be finished.

At the risk of sounding like a keener, I am done too. (I am really not a keener, just ask around in my lab...all my papers, presentations and grant applications are done last minute, honest!)

Where are all the others? ABC, did you finish yet.. c'mon it is not too hard.  Se7en, how is it going?  tq, Malika, and everyone else, hope to hear from ya tomorrow :-)

So, what's the program tomorrow? Anyone?

I'm not sure what we do now. We can start off by thanking Allah for giving us the ability to memorise these verses which will protect us from the fitan of the Dajjal, by Allah's Permission. The blessing of memorising this is something that millions of Muslims have not achieved - so we should again be thankful to Allah.

How about it spurs us onto reciting surah al-Kahf every Friday, as is the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam

How about doing the last ten verses by next Friday?  There's another hadith which says whoever memorizes the last 10 verses of Surah al-Kahf will be saved from the fitan of Dajjal.

Arsalan are you sure? The hadith that i cited originally specified the first ten ayaat. Can you tell me where i can find the hadith that mentions the last 10 please.

Assalamoalykum,

I am not a very smart person and even though I want to memorize the Quran or at least a few surahs, i can't, i find it so difficult. I get excited and then when i realize i can't do it, i give up. When I was little, I don't kow how i did it. I had memorized almost all of the last 30 surah's in the Quran, and surah Ya-Seen also, and then i don't know what happened. Well, I do know what happened but it's a long story. After Surah ya-Seen, i wanted to memorize surah Jinn, I thought for some reason that by memorizing it i would be able to call jins with me. :D  Little kids. Of course i wanted my dad to be there when I did that. :)

Anyway, at the halaqa last tuesday, the sis who was doing it on dajal, told us about the hadith where it says that the Prophet said to the sahaba that if dajal came in their life time, they should recite the first 10 ayahs of surah ahlas. Is that correct, I am not sure if that is the surah that she said the name of? I want to do it inshallah. it was really scary, not in nightmarish scary way, but scary in the other sense, you know...? Because we talked about how all the minor signs have happened and how only the major signs yet remain to come true.

One day, Rasullulah was sitting with the sahaba and the sun was setting. Rasullulah said that the time between the end of the world was like between the rim of the sun and (something else). I forgot what. I need to look at my notes that i took. So anyway, what the hadith said, shocked me and really scared me, it is so close and we don't even think about where we are heading and what we have done with our lives so far. May Allah forgive me and all of us. :(

Assalamu alaikum,

Kashif, here's the hadith:

Abu Dardaa' reported Allah's Apostle (pbuh) as saying: "If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal."  This hadith has been transmitted by Qataada with the same chain of transmitters.  But Shu'ba (one of the narrators) said: "At the end of Surah al-Kahf," but Hammam said: "At the beginning of Surah al-Kahf."

Sahih Muslim (Kitaab al-Salaat, Chapter CCLXXXV "Excellence of Surah al-Kahf and Ayat al-Kursi - Hadith 1766).

Wassalamu alaikum.

Br. Kashif I thought when you started this it was a fantastic idea although I was a tad behind but Alhumdulliah I have the verses memorised.

Now..  do you intend to stop there?:)  I needed the motivation to do what I am suppose to do anyway.  This sort of pushed me along.  It was almost like a teacher giving you a deadline to complete a project.  Now what???  you can't stop now what is the next project.  Did you say to try the next ten??  what happened??
