Assalamu alaikum, Bhurka is probably another spelling mistake by Saleema (:))of the word "burqaa." It is the dress that is worn by some Muslim women that covers them from head to toe including the face. It is usually black, but I've also seen white ones. I think the word is an Urdu word, and most Arabs are not familiar with this term (widad?) Wassalamu alaikum. |

Assalamoalykum, Brother Arsalan......watch it. :) Since people have been making fun/complaining about my spelling, i have gone to the trouble of making sure that I type correctly. (sigh) which takes me tooooooooooo long, since i am not a very good typist. wassalam |

Assalaam Alaikum Sis Saleema, why does everybody pick on you so? when you make a spelling mistake just tell them to sound it out. most of the time they know what you meant. OK except the time you sent that post with the missing information... Oh and then there was that time...:) |

slm Maybe it means so in the Indian sub-continent,but in Arabic it is like the niqab a piece of cloth that covers the face, usually worn by the bedouins,it differs from the niqab in that it has a thin string that holds the forehead piece to the rest from the top of the nose. The bedouins of Sina'a and Egypt also have it with a lot of golden stuff hanging from it,the Egyptians in the days of king FArouk had the same thing but the lower part was net-like,and therefore not a real good covering. |
