Asalaamu Alaikum :)

This is one of my favourite quotes from the book:

The Remembrance of Death and the Afterlife by Imam Al-Ghazali, translated by TJ Winter.

One of the Followers once beheld the Prophet [saw] in a dream and said, "O Emissary of God! Give me an exhortation!" And he replied, "Whosoever does not seek out loss*, he is himself the loser; and whosoever is in loss, for him death is the better circumstance."

* - The renunciation of worldly things

Asalaamu Alaikum  :)

I’ve given up worrying about my bad hair days long ago but that’s a different story!!!

My own understanding of what is being said is that if a person doesn’t seek loss (by giving up dunya) then he himself is a loser because the dunya will distract him away from akhirah. And if he happens to be in such a state of being able to give up dunya, then death will bring him to a better state because this world is a prison compared to the hereafter.

And Allah (swt) knows best

The above just makes me smile whenever I hear someone being called a loser.
