I turn to Allah...

I turn to Allah, Controller of the Universe, Most High, the One in Whose Hands is my life, the Merciful, the One Who Hears, and pray:

Oh Allah, open our hearts to understanding the True nature of this world we're in.  Oh Allah, stop us from being fooled by the outer things of this life.

I ask that you forgive me.  I pray that Allah makes your journey easy for you.

This world is full of images and sounds, things that we see and hear; some are real, and some are not.  Yet Allah has full knowledge of all things that affect us.  He controls all that happens, and can change our destiny. If we are faced with trouble, we should turn to Him.

When the Blessed Prophet's son died, he wept.  This man who the great companions hid behind in battle, the recipient of Allah's words, his tears fell to the ground.  The companions were quick in their Iman, they said to the Blessed Prophet:

"Oh Rassulullah, why is it that you cry at the will of Allah?"

"My cries are not at the will of Allah, ...These are the cries of a lover for his beloved."

Our hearts are oceans.  Some tears fill our hearts, and others drain it.  Sadness that comes from love of money, cars, beauty, jobs, grades...this will only dry the heart. But there is another kind of sadness, one whose tears bring life to the heart.  When these sadness clouds drop their rain, the orchard of the heart blooms.  This is sadness at the loss of love for Allah, and the love he put between us and our spouses, our children, our deen, our Blessed Prophet. We should long for these tears, for they water the garden inside of us.

This is how our problems can become beautiful.  There once was a sheikh who would always end his khutbahs by saying : "And may Allah bless the theives and the bandits."

Of course, some people became curious, and asked the sheikh,

"Whats up with that bless the theives thing?"

"You see, whenever I become lost in the comforts of this world, enjoying myself, I get robbed and beaten in the street. They leave me there, stupid, and I begin to realize once again how useless my money is, when all I long for is to be safe with my wife and family. But I always need to be reminded.  I never learn my lesson."

If it hasn't happened to you, it will.  These divine bumps in the road are telling us "Quit looking side to side. Look up, and witness the miracle above you." Give your salams to the stars sometime...it sounds funny, but they hear you.

A persian tale:

Once, a sheikh, riding his donkey, saw a snake crawling into a sleeping man's mouth!  He hurried, but he couldn't prevent it. He hit the man several blows with his club.

The man woke, terrified, and ran beneath an apple tree with many rotten apples on the ground.

"Eat! You miserable wretch! Eat."

"Why are you doing this to me?"

"Eat more, you fool."

"I've never seen you before! Who are you?"

The wise man kept forcing him to eat, and then he ran him.  For hours he whipped the poor man, and made him run. Finally, at nightfall, full of rotten apples, fatigued, bleeding, he fell, and vomited everything, the good, the bad, the apples and the snake.

He saw the ugly snake come out of himself, and fell on his knees. "If I had explained what I was doing, you might have panicked and died of fear."

There is Divine wisdom behind our troubles.  This is how suffering can really be a purification, it could be helping us get that snake-evil out of us.  This is what the Blessed Prophet knew, when his son died.  He cried the tears of love.

Ok, sorry this is long, I'll try to cut it short.  Doves are the most beautiful of birds, so why do they spend their lives in cages? Because they are beautiful! Only the crows, the ugly birds fly free.  Look at all these ugly people around us. They think they are free. Thats only because no one cares about them!  If you love something, you never let it go, you're always there watching, guiding, helping. Don't think that the pain you're going through is pain, sometimes its love!

Did you ever see a dove flap her wings?  Its amazing, how she lowers her wings so that her body may fly.  We can elevate our spirit, our rooh, but we must lower our nafs first, its the simple law of nature.

Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (God) Most Gracious: Truly (God) Most Gracious: Truly it is He that watches over all things. Surah Mulk, Ayah 19.
