as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

This was sent to me recently by a young brother.  Young being a relative term, meaning like 16 :)  I think we should encourage ppl, especially young brothers, to express themselves, use their passions and skills for good and in the way of Islam.. inshaAllah the next generation is going to begin a groundswell of poets and scholars ;)

Give me some good responses I can send to him, that'll encourage him.

How many people can feel the message the material world sends
And how many muslims got secret boyfriends and secret girlfriends?
Is it to make friends, along with fake trends
Do you just follow or does it make sense?
Ignorance is like a plague its so contagious
Lives inside parents, kids, thru many stages
That's why intellects read the Quran carefully
At first glance the meaning has mad clarity
But if you read without wanting that reputation
You'll read into the deeper message through patience
You say this, 'why worry, why tryn hurry?
As this worlds circlin is it just worse to sin?
I have my head but am I just disturbing it?'
Denying the blatant accepting the vacant
When realizing im at fault
and everyday is the last call
its what I take and what I have
its what I say and what my path
is chosen self chosen and at the moment
its fate and free will its what I'm holding
I open my thoughts and broke in my habits
Changed into practice and neglected the lackness
You can be the common sucker, stand high mad pride n then suffer
Or take a minute or maybe just a couple
Whatever it is that helps ya daily struggle
But that's self explanatory, should be natural self mandatory
Cause Islam is for life not a test waiting in the laboratory
Often displayed for hypness which indicates blindness
, but its not just a religion it's a guidance
this ain't a lecture pertaining to peer pressure
to glorify the religious and claim the rest lesser
this is just a comment but not like the comic bringing up ironic concepts
u can call this logic or a brief interference in the climate
belittleing psychics takin my soul to the highest
whether im not together in public or private
heard a fact in my face and I didn't like it
it's life the analogy called reality and i'll strive it
maybe I'm not jiggy with it
hahaha.. Al Basha I can't believe you just used the phrase "jiggy with it"... using that phrase *proves* that you're not with it.. heheh

Salamu Aliakom,

Heh yeah I know, someone once told me "Yusuf we have to ebonify you", I don't know if I like the sound of that :)

Here's a poem/rap I wrote a couple years ago during a difficult period of my life. The poem is semi cryptic, so if anyone needs an explanation let me know.

KIB (Khawaga in Black)

KIB
Protecting you from the worst trash of the IG
Even Oasis gets near me
The Abdul-Khaliq chem teacher gets wicked on you
Answer back, or chew the fat
That's all we can do to those rats
Dressed in Outpost black
Yeah it's all from the rack
You can see me
At the corner of Lasilky
Getting into those cars of black
Arguing with those men that lack
Respect , men who live on cigarettes
When it comes to money they all fret
Cut the pleasantries
All I need is some dignity
I don't need their sympathy
It's all about apathy
Muslim , Coptic , Jew
Makes no difference to me
Family reeks with danger
As if I am a stranger
I have no home
Like a travelling circus that lives to roam
Living in houses of foam
In spite of this we are together
You and me
We are the KIB
