alsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu i pray that all fo u are doing great insha'Allah :-) ...this was fwded to me... THE POEM I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do. I had to hurry and get to work For bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees. My Muslim duty was now done My soul could rest at ease. All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer. No time to speak of Allah to friends, They'd laugh at me I'd fear. No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry, No time to give to souls in need But at last the time, the time to die. I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes. For in his hands God held a book; It was the book of life. God looked into his book and said "Your name I cannot find. I once was going to write it down... But never found the time" Now do you have the time to pass it on? |

alsalamu alaykum everyone...a sis sent me this...it makes sense ..although the point the poem makes is important I'm writing about the POEM that you forwarded about having the time to do stuff for the sake of Allah. I had a problem with this poem and so I verified with my dad and he had a problem with it too. It's about the last stanza where the author writes that Allah (istaghfarullah) did not have the time to write down the person's name. This is against the characteristics of Allah and it attributes a human short-coming to Him. I don't know if you know the person who wrote the poem. If you do, pls tell them about this. Also, could send an email with this info in it to those people who received the poem from you. Jazaki Allahu Kheiran. Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahu wa barakatuh, |

[slm] i just spotted that aswell- no it doesn't sound right even though the point the poem makes is important - i think its even more important(and indeed grave) to say of Allah that which is not right... |

[slm] Actually this seems like another one of those Christian poems that have been converted to an Islamic poem by simply changing some words here and there. Note that the only way you can tell that this is a Muslim poem is by a single occurrance of the word 'Allah' in the 3rd stanza. But read that stanza again and you'll see that verse is out of rhythm. Now replace it with 'God' and the rhythm is perfect again :) We should watch out for such poems. They may convey an Islamic concept, but the means are not correct. Because there are always subliminal Christian messages in such poems. And, of course, NEVER attempt to "convert" a Christian poem into an Islamic one. Alhamdulillah, we already have many great Islamic poems out there to be inspired from (See the Shahadah Bookstore). Wassalamu alaikum. |
