assalamu alaikum,

thanks se7en for marking the quizes!  i guess it is very evident that i am lousy at guessing :(  eep, better not let my students who i TA at the university see my mark here!

i have a tinsy comment about question # 4 which we all got right
4.  There are two suras in the Qur'an named after insects. They are:
              a.)  an-Nahl and az-Zumar
              b.) an-Naml and al-Feel
              c.) an-Naml and an-Nahl
              d.) az-Zumar and an-Naml

              an-Nahl - The Bee (surah 16)
              an-Naml - the Ants (surah 27)
surat al-ankaboot (surah 29) was also named after an insect.

is anybody else surprised by the knowledge that prophet Muhammed's father was buried in Madina not Makkah?

wassalam
There are two suras in the Qur'an named after insects. They are:
I shouldn't have phrased the question this way, because there are more han two suras in the Qur'an named after insects.  The question should say, "Two *of* the suras in the Qur'an named after insects are..."

Thanks for pointing that out Mona:)

Assalamu alaikum,

Mona - it's not surprising, because if you remember the story, Abdullah (the father of Prophet Muhammad pbuh) was on his way back from up North, where he had travelled with a trade caravan, when he fell ill and died.  He actually died close to (or in) Yathrib (Madina), and so he was buried there.

I always thought it was ironic that he died in the city which would soon become the City of the Prophet, his son - someone he never even saw!  Subhan Allah.

Assalaamu alaikum,

Se7en, you being lenient on me? I got #12 wrong also! That makes me -3.5 :(

I don't know why I thought the time between prophets Muhammad and Musa (peace be upon them) was more than 1200. That means 600 BC, hmmm. Good quiz se7en!

I got the Qur'an Quiz though ...

Arsalan, thanks for clarifying Q #10. I raised this point at breakfast this morning and my mother reminded me that the prophet's ( pbuh ) father died during his travels for trade.

Was #12 a trick question? I was surprised to see you say that Musa alaihis-salaam came only 1200 years before the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

So. I asked the butler to investigate for me, and he pointed me in the direction of the Encyclopaedia Britannica in which you will find that the stronger opinion is that the exodus of the Jews occurred around the 14th Century BC.

PS Such an option did not appear on your list of answers...

now... check this out... Se7en writes the test, and Jannah gets top score !? suspicious?
