Our Greeting

I don't mean to rain on this parade but I feel compelled to speak out
in regards to something that I have seen quite some time now on this
board.

I don't understand why asalamalay.com is being used instead of assalam alakum.  I appreciate a sense of humor but there are limits ordained by Allah.  Whenever I see assalamalay.com on this board, I think "assalamalay dot com"-did not feel the beauty of this greeting even for a moment.
Assalamalkum is a greeting given to the Muslims by Allah to use among one another.  It is a dua we are making for our brothers and sisters each time we use it and it is a declaration of our unity with Muslims.  It reflects the peace which is imbedded in true Islam and is the first step in establishing peace between two Muslims when they meet. It is truly a loss to waste
this simple good deed and gift from Allah by saying it in such vain.

bismillah.

asalaamu alaikum
I'm in complete agreement with the anonymous brother/sister. If Allah's Messenger taught us the greeting "assalaamu alaikum" to use amongst ourselves then that is absolutely the best one to use.

[In my opinion] this also extends to other deviations such as "salaams," and its like. Can you believe that people meet in the street now and greet each other saying "salaams" as opposed to "assalaamu alaikum" !?

Why settle for inferior when we have been taught that which is superior?

Wa Salaam
