Just a thought

After my latest posting in the thread "Sisters speaking at conferences" it struck me how my priorities seem to be in complete disarray.

How easily was i enticed into finding a fatwa to support the opinion *I* believe to be the correct one. Indeed, i had been thinking about it since early this morning as soon as i logged on at work.

How interesting that an issue that will affect only a very *few* number of people on this board - those who organise conferences and hence are in the position to decide whether to invite a sister to speak in front of a mixed audience - received 15 posts in less than 10 hours?

But the real source of my guilt is how i found it easy to venture an opinion on a subject that i am a muqallid in, yet I was unable to post even a few words of comfort and support for the anonymous sister whose husband wants her to abort her child.

O Allah guide me & straighten out my affairs.

Asalaamu Alaikum

Br Kashif your post made me look at the times I posted in these two threads this morning and it transpired that I posted on the Sisters Conference thread before posting in support of our sister in need.

Trying to rationalise this I guess sometimes we all tend to overlook the simple and go after the complicated. Or maybe sometimes when we find ourselves in a position where we are unable to help, we shy away and forget to convey even the simplest support.

In any event the following Hadith came to mind:

"Save yourself from the Fire even by giving half a date in charity, and if you do not find (half a date), then by saying a good word" [Bukhari & Muslim]

May Allah [swt] grant us all the ability to act on the above Hadith
