This is a synopsis of said movie:

Opening:

[Zack Morris reading a guide to Bahrain]

Zack: Can you believe this BAA - REIGHN, the prime minster is Al  Caal-eepa, the head of security is the shake Al Caal-eepa, man there's alot of em.

Black guy: YO dis be a MOZLIM country!! They'll cut off your head!

Lieutenant:  This is a MOZLIM country BOYZ. The culture is completely different. WE ARE NOT LIKE THEM. Stay away from them.

[camels and niqabis and yes goats walk around outside the fence of the base!]

Moving into the room:

Zack takes out his beloved Bible.
Black guy: Yo, what's dat?
Zack: I'm a devout Mormon, This here is my Bible. I did missionary work for 2 years in Vegas. I am chaste, good all american boy.
Black guy: Ok... [takes out playboy calendar and hangs it up]

Scene in the Palace, women doing mehndi together : (really a rich mansion in LA)

[Meriam wears capri tie-dye hot pants and mini halter top.]

Meriam's sister: I'm going to marry a shake and wear the full oppressive veil!
Meriam: Do you love him?
Meriam's sister: Of course not!
Meriam little sister: Ha ha you are betrothed Meriam to some guy named Rasheed!!!
Meriam: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

[Meriam runs out of room and starts calling random phone numbers. Surprise, surprise she randomly calls Zack and makes a date to meet at the mall.]

Mall scene (one dupatta like hijabi and designer stores depicted):

Zack: Stay away from me I'm a good Christian boy.
Meriam: Ohhh you're so cute.. let's play American football and sneak to the American movies together.
Meriam's Hijabi dupatta friend: You'll ruin your reputation!!! He's evil!!!
Zack: What do you believe in?
Meriam: Nothing... but I watch alot of American movies!
Zack: I'll teach you what to believe!
Meriam: Oh look that's our bible even though I never read it before [shows him a Quran].

[Zack later finds out she is one of those Al Caleepas]

Zack: I don't want to talk to you anymore!
Meriam: But I'm so pretty!
Zack: Oh yeah.

Scene in Bahraini desert:
Meriam: This is the tree of life of Bahrain it is symbolic of all the honor and beauty of Bahrain.
Zack: Let's make out!
Meriam: OK

[evil secret police in full abaya and accent use cell phone to contact palace about wayward daughter]

Scene in Meriam's bedroom:
Meriam: La la la I'm in love with a blonde american!!

[Meriam's mother's evil profile in the darkness appears]

Meriam: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!
Meriam's mother: You have shamed our family. I knew your skirts were too short. WE SHOULD HAVE WORN THE VEIL! He's only after one thing. [rips up Zack's picture] We're going to examine you for your virginity. You're not allowed to leave the house ever again and you must wear the veil as a symbol of your new oppression.
Meriam: Boo hoo [tears slide beautifully down her 17 year old face]

Scene in Courtyard of Mansion:

Meriam's mother: Daughter, you must pray come with me!

[Meriam proceeds to be forced to pray in front of the LA mansion with palm trees, with tears. Voiceover of her letter to Zack saying how she hated her life.]

Scene in Mall:
Meriam: Oh Zack I love America!
Zack: You can run away with me even though this is statutory rape in America and you're a minor!
Meriam: OK

Night of Running away, scene in Mansion:
Meriam's mother watches Iranian TV music.
Meriam: Did you love my father?
Mother: Yes very much
Meriam: Does he know you?
Mother: [As if this never occurred to her] I don't know. Women are weak. They should be forced to wear the veil because they might be attracted to their own selves.
Meriam: But Khadija, Muhammad peace be upon him's 1st wife was an international businesswoman and was his boss and I can still be a good MOZLIM as long as I don't wear the veil or pray or practice Islam and can wear those capri pants and short skirts.
Mother: Ok. [Goes back to watching TV]

[Meriam and Zack sneak furtively to the airport. Avoiding all manner of evil middle eastern looking men who make chauvenist comments.]

[In America, Meriam gets put in jail by evil INS agents]

Meriam: It's OK... this is just how my life was before except I lived in a palatial estate with tons of servants and could do whatever I wanted in the mall everyday.
Zack: I'll save you and show you this great American way of life!

[Zack and Meriam get married in Vegas with him wearing his full marine uniform and her wearing a tiny white sequined mini. Meriam moves in with Zack's All American loving Family and does the dishes. Later she moves into the tiny one room apt on base. The flag is high above, fluttering prettily in the breeze. Everyone stop to salute. Camera flashes to man in uniform holding a Quran under one arm and saluting. Mariam looks up. ]

Meriam: God bless America!

The End!!

[This Made-for-TV movie produced solely to hype the asylum of Princess Meriam brought to you by Jannah & Se7en Incorporated. Any resemblance to truth has been distorted for the pleasure of the American public and Islam haters everywhere. Long live America and it's Kafir way of life.]

*looool*..good ona gals...

i watched the movie and all that would come to my mind was how dumb it was.......typical story of amercians trying to show they're better and we are in need of being saved by them.....

my favorite part was how she spoke of the wife of the prophet [saw],  khadijah radhi Allah 3anha...she forgot to mention how khadijah radhi Allah 3anha  was a chaste and honourable muslima who feared Allah and loved to follow Islam and not forsake it for this dunya....

may Allah ta3ala keep us on the straight path

And what was the moral of the story?
It is, america is such a wonderful country, It is full of young muslim prostitutes who run of with dirty kufr men so they can be liberated from islam so they can run away from their famillys free to wash pork stains from plates. the last seen speeks all, america is such a wonderful country, muslims are free here to commit shirk by saluting flags, while joining americas kaffar army to kill muslims.

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

Just a few comments.. (I tend to make a lot don't I :))

This girl, Meriam, was 17 when she ran away.  She was an adult, but she was still young, and she, I think, was acting out of some youthful rebellion.  This doesn't excuse her behavior, nor does this free her from accountability, but I think it's something to consider.  I don't think she necessarily is this evil person who's intention was to destroy Islam.  I think she's made some stupid mistakes that have *long* reaching consequences.  Either way, I don't think calling her a "princess ____" etc as I've seen in some posts is right.   Which I have no right to say, because I was making some not so nice comments while watching the film.  But again, something to think about.

The film itself was interesting.  A friend of mine who was watching it with me said that she was glad that it was so blatantly obvious in its slant, that people will realize that it is.  I don't know, I don't think the average American will recognize the obvious prejudice and patriotism, even though it was very, very, very clear in the film.

It was interesting.  The clear distinction between US and THEM, beginning with the lieutenant emphasizing, "this is a MUSLIM country.  The culture is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from ours.." <cut in with scenes of niqaabi women behind a fence> "stay away from the women..."

Jason being a chaste, modest, upright American boy, who carried his Book of Mormon, did missionary work, and didn't chase girls.  He wasn't attracted to her physically, oh no, it was a deeper, more spiritual love, when they met at  the Gap and macked at the movies.

The constant references to hijab.  When she had it on, she was oppressed, when she had it off she was free.  Her mother forcing her to wear hijab after she discovers that she's seeing this white boy.  The comment "my brothers were right.  Women should wear the veil because they are weak, and given to temptation"... ??? that logic escapes me, shouldn't the assumption be that men are weak?

What was most interesting was her comment about Khadija, I can still be a good Muslim without wearing the veil etc. This was a way of seperating the veil from what Islam is really about, from what Rasul [saw] taught.  Also interesting was the last scene in which a man holding the Qur'an saluted the flag.  Showing that you can still be Muslim and a good American? Hm.. I don't know what that was trying to show.

There were some scenes that were seriously alarming.  One in which she was forced to pray, tear streaming down her face, her look of utter torment with a voiceover of how she hated her life.

Another of Jason talking to her about leaving, her incoherently repeating things her mother taught her about her life being sacred and precious.. showing how brainwashed she was..

Her in jail, commenting about how this is how she's lived her entire life, imprisoned by Islam..

Her comment that she fell in love with a Christian foreigner, this being forbidden to her..

The good old American family, the Christian wedding...

It was not good at all.  I think CAIR got some of the more blatantly prejudice things cut out, because it seemed like some scenes were cut and the movie was two hours when normally I think it would be three.

What was more alarming to me was the princess and the marine's appearance on the Oprah show.  The entire show was disgusting, from the "expert" (a woman who wrote entire works on royal women in the middle east and the complete and utter torment they lived in) speaking about how the princess would certainly be stabbed with a scimtar if she ever returned, to the portrayals of arranged marriages, to the author of "Not Without My Daughter" speaking about women's strength, to Oprah's comment on how American women are "the luckiest in the world" to her comment "if you're in an arranged marriage and you're happy, DON'T WRITE ME" etc etc.. that was awful, and I think that show is something we should be more concerned with than the movie.

Alhamdulillah that I have been taught the beauty of Islam, that I haven't felt the need to rebel like Meriam, and that I'm content with my life and my deen.

Allahu 'alam, may Allah guide us all.

wasalaam.

alakum salam,, I haven’t seen the movie and the opra,,, but I know something about the middle east. I know Princess P's immorality is nothing uncommon among the ruling classes, what separates her from the rest is the fact that she ran off to the west and had a go at her family.
It is a fact the rulers in the Muslim world have no fear of Allah, this absences of Takawa is not only present in the laws they make but also seeps in to their personal lives and their familyies. for some one who never prays, being made to pray is a punishment.
I think the girl has no knowledge of Islam, and has been brought up as a kaffar, the rulers do this with their families, it is a fact that if she was made to love Islam she would work to have other members of her family removed from power, and even executed, she would have probably run away from her family due to love of Allah, not due to the love of a dirty cross worshiper.
I disagree that she is just young. my mum got married when she was younger, and my friends mum got married when she was allot younger. She did it due to having no love of Allah, this is due to the fact that she had been nurtured to hate Islam. There are allot of old hags in Muslim countries who do similer stuff to discredit Islam.

They showed her crying when she prayed?  How very sad.  They came on the oprah show?  That must have been bad as well.

Now that this shameful behavior has been exposed, maybe the family will feel embarassed? ???  Maybe this will serve as a warning to other Muslims with daughters that this could happen to you unless you get your act together.  I don't think this is a problem with just the rulers, but I imagine this happens in other sections of society.

What do you think will happen now?  Is there anything we can do?

Salaam 'Alaikum

The parody had me laughing out loud.  I didn't watch the movie myself, but I saw enough of it in commercials to recognize what was being parodied.

I don't think non Muslim Americans are so dense that they can't recognize blantant tripe when they see it.  When 'People' reviewed (and panned) this TV movie, they mentioned that it was a very obvious attempt promoted by her supporters to try and convince the INS that she shouldn't be deported (b/c, last I heard, that is the way that they seem to be heading.  She's had four hearings / interviews so far, and indications to date are pointing to them deporting her).

Regarding Oprah:  Of course she doesn't want to hear from people who are happy in Arranged Marriages.  Oprah is a straight up KAFIR, a K-A-F-I-R, and a Kafir is someone who tries to hide the truth.  All that talk about "finding your spirit" and spirituality on her show?  Listen a little closer and examine it.  It's about finding peace and happiness through consumerism (if you buy this book, if you buy this candle, if you buy this video, if you go to this seminar... you will be happy), and through worshipping the SELF.  She tries to make it seem like she's cool w/ "traditional" beliefs, but look at the Christian ministers and Jewish Rabbis who do appear on her show.  They are spouting beliefs and teachings which are *NOT* in tune with mainstream (or, gasp, Orthodox) teachings from the Jewish and Christian trad'ns.  It's all a part of this whole "Let's all hold hands and sing kum bye ah, and we're all walking many paths to the same diety, blah blah blah" garbage that is being promoted as "tolerance and understanding" in our culture.

Yeah, but tell us what you really think, Umm Zaid.  LOL.  If I told you my true, deep feelings about Oprah Winfrey, you'd all look at me like I used to look at my husband when he would talk about Jews and Zionist conspiracies and what not.  LOL.  Listen, just suffice it to say that Oprah Winfrey does not care to tell her viewers and readers (of 'O' Magazine) anything near to the truth about Islam and Arabs and Eastern and African Muslim women.  One of the organzations that was given a grant award from the V-Day org that she is involved in is a group of so-called "Muslim" women whose sole purpose is to get rid of all forms of Shari'a in various "Islamic" countries.  And that's not even bringing RAWA into it.

Remember the aya that says that they will not be happy until you follow their milla?  Well, Oprah is from those people who say "OH yeah please, diversity in spirituality" as long as you aren't ... you know... so obvious about it, and as long as you subscribe to their reality and dilute and distort the teachings of Islam (or Christianity or Judaism) until they are bland and flavorless and palatable to everyone, and offend no one, and "judge" no one.

assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

hope everyone is well, insha'Allah.
i didn't see the movie/oprah either, but masha'Allah, umm zaid, ppl think i'm crazy when i tell them about oprah's agenda, too!  anyways, i think there was a question raised, "what can we do now?", which is what i'm left wondering.  one thing i've learned about modern day muslims in the west is that we're entirely too reactionary.  we all get distracted by wack-ness, when really, we should continue to focus on our goals, personal and for the ummah.  we have to worry abt how we're doing now, how we're representing islam, how we define islam in words & actions for others, set/establish some groundwork (work on interfaith projects, work with the newspapers, etc), get the truth out.  i'm sure a lot of you are aleady involved with things like that, but really, we, as a western ummah, sometimes deplete too much precious energy giving undue attention to wack-ness (ex/ women from muslim countries who are paid by zionist publishers to write abt how "oppressive" their lives were due to "islam", etc).  NOT to say we shouldnt' waste our breath at all (the parody was actually really funny), i think we just need a balance...may Allah guide us all to the truth, and set His Truth clear from error, aameen.

asalm walakum,,,, People keep asking "what we should be doing in response",
I'll tell you what we shouldn't be doing... getting pulled in to their agenda.
It looks like allot of Muslims have no agenda of their own, all they do is react to what the kaffar are doing.
Bahrain is a country full of brothels, night-clubs and other fornication institutions, which the royal family protects. The kaffar and their kuffer are looked to as demi-gods by allot of the kaffar lovers there. So we shouldn't be surprised to find a semi-naked princess who only prays as a punishment running of with a kaffar, so she can wash his dishes for him. The rulers of Bahrain tortures and terrorises their population for the kaffar. you can't compare what she did with what they are doing. why isn't any one screaming about what they are doing? cause we are being pulled in to the agenda presented to us by the kaffar!
What we need to do is remove the kaffar rulers from our countries, these are the people who bread tarts like her, they build educational institutions to brain wash the ummah in to becoming like her, and think of Islam the way she views it. instead of crying about what the whore is saying and doing, we should remove what is producing bitches like her. There are lodes of kaffar wannabes who think the way she thinks, and do the things she does. TV Programs on Islam are full of them, they are the people invited to represent the "nice face of Islam" and to attack the "extremists".
You can view their hypocrisy by the fact that even though  it is very hard to find a country in the world where people have the right to brake Allah's laws as much as Bahrain, and a country in the world where people are being persecuted for abiding by Allah's laws as much as Bahrain. The kaffar claim that she has been liberated from the persecution of Islam. Even though her and her royal family are the people in Bahrain who practice the laws of Islam to the lest extent. I think we should think for a while, what would of happened if the shoe was on the other foot? What would the Opra and the film makers be saying if a white kaffar American teenage daughter of a president  ran off, away from her family and friends with a Muslim Arab to some distant Fundamentalist country, where she would live washing dishes for her new older adult husband, while talking about how running away had liberated her from the oppression of American life? They would be screaming about how dirty pervy fundamentalist Arabs brain wash young American girls to run away from their nice life and families to live as a semi-slave washing dishes, for their older, pervy, brain washing husbands.

The Message (which I own Alhumdulilah) is a movie about the Life of the Prophet Muhmmad (Saw) which Alhumdulilah they did very well. As far as I know the movie was petty accurate and tey never showed the pers who was playing Muhammad and you never heard him......

I sa the lion of the dessert a long time ago and dont remember it to well but I do know that "Lion of the dessert" was Hamzah (The Prophets (saw) Uncle. So I believe the movie had to do with him......

I haven't bought Lion of the Dessert, but I hear a lot of good things about it, so maybe I will get it, its $12 here on DVD, and here is a description of the movie:

A Libyan guerrilla leader attempts to halt the invading Italian forces during World War II. A spectacular adventure epic.
This epic historical film tells the story of Libyan guerrilla leader Omar Mukhtar, who struggled to stop Benito Mussolini's invading army from seizing control of his country. Mussolini ordered General Rodolfo Graziani and his troops to destroy the Bedouin's rebellion but the Fascists weren't counting on the determination and skill of the Arab fighters. The Libyans engaged in a long and deadly war, which lasted from 1911 to 1931.
Distributed theatrically by United Film Distribution Company in the USA.

Produced by Falcon International.
Released theatrically in the USA April 17, 1981.
Shot in 1979, under the title "Omar Mukhtar," in Panavision.

The place selling it for $12 is:

Just a minor correction ...

The main role in "Lion of the Desert" is Omar Mokhtar* (as Bhaloo wrote in his post), played by Anthony Quinn - who also happens to play the role of Hamzah ibn Abdul Muttalib (the Prophet's uncle) in "The Message."

Maybe this is the cause of Jenna's mix up :)

Not every one in the Muslim countries are kaffar, the people and the people in the armies are genraly Muslim. The only reason why the rulers are in power are the armies are keeping them in power. the people who can remove them are the armies. The people in genral and the armies in particuler need to made to understand it is a abligation to rule by islam, and this obligation can not be carried out without the action that needs to be done to bring it about. If you have the power in your hands to remove the ruler( you are in the army) then remove him, If you dont, then contact People who do, if you are not in touch with any one who has that ability, make others understand this, until a chain is formed all the way to the people with the power to remove the kaffar and their kufr.
