It's real! It's real people. I have gone, I have seen... I have TASTED!!!!

You'll find them in those really fancy shmancy mall places in Saudi where people dress all european and act superior.

I was going to buy some but they would only let me buy 1/2 a kg? or something and that was 60 riyals so I thought I should spend my remaining money a little more wisely...maybe someone going *cough* could you know...maybe...buy some and send it to all of us :-)

describe it to me- I am pretty good in the kitchen. I have developed a delicious baklava- and with the chocolate- make it unique!

Tell me every detail you remember.

wlm,

ok, it was like regular baklava but more layers of fillo and it had pistachios i think and it didn't taste syrupy. the chocolate seemed like german/european chocolate ie lindt not like stuff here

i guess we could try making regular baklava and chocolate coating it? can you put up a good recipe for it kathy? i'll try it for this eid maybe...

Maybe if you buy regular baklava and then dip it in that chocolate stuff they sell for making chocolate covered strawberries?

What do I know? ;)

Sure I will post it.  It is my invention after years of experimenting!

Back to the Chocolate. Was a piece of baklawa dipped in chocolate- so it was a like a kitkat?

Or were each layer of filo covered with chocolate?

Or was just the top layer chocolate?

Was the chocolate soft like frosting/ icing ?
or was it firmer like soft candy?

I am getting excited!

Gosh- I am sounding like an old lady- getting excited about food!

zakk that actually sounds like a good idea! that stuff is made for dipping right?

kathy to answer your questions:

it was dipped, not layered

it was like a kitkat but the inside was a regular baklava.. they were small too like hershey bar pieces, but not as flat

Salaam,
Yeah jannah, u can buy the stuff in the grocery store, it comes in it's own microwaveable container....but wouldn't it be too sweet? Since regular baklava would already have loads of syrup?  Maybe if you make baklava yourself, you can cut the amount of syrup or something?  And then dip it in the yummy melted chocolate:-)

That's what I was thinking.  Baklava is way too sweet with that syrup.  One wouldn't be able to taste the chocolate with all that syrup.
