MYNA/ICNA guidelines for bro & sis interaction...

as-Salaamu 'Alaykum,
First off, I'd like to say that I'm new to this message board, but have been reading the posts here for a while and have found them interesting and fun to read.
I currently live in Dallas, TX and we are starting up a formal youth group.  We have been asked by the Masjid committee to present some type of documentation that explains the "rules and/or regulations" of how the brothers and sisters of the youth group would act/interact.  In particular I think they are talking about camp/conference setups and if certain requirements would be placed regarding dress and character (but this would apply outside of the camp/conference environment as well).
We *could* write the document ourselves, but before we went ahead and did something like that, I was wondering if anybody knows of something similar to this that we could maybe use as a template or guideline.  I have kind of been out of touch with MYNA so I'm not aware of any such written rules and guidelines, only what has been practiced in the past camps and conferences.
If anybody has any suggestions or contacts, I would greatly appreciate it.
Jazakum Allahu Khairun and take care,

Zubaid Kazmi

Sounds a worthwhile idea. Out of interest what activties have you got planned for the group?

Welcome to the board, and enjoy your stay here with us. :)  Alhumdullilah that sounds like a great idea (setting up a youth group).  There are a lot of people on this board that are very active in their communities and insha'Allah can provide you with some guidelines that maybe you can use.

Zubaid, where are you in Dallas?  Richardson?  Arlington?

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

Welcome to the board brother :)  Wow, I'm awed, we have in our presence a bro that's been on MYNA raps :)

Hmmmm.. the "Lets Build a Muslim Youth Group" MYNA packet (which is excellent) didn't have what you were looking for.  I also looked in the Training Guide for Islamic Workers, which has as interesting chapter on youth camps and adab in general, but no deal.

I don't know of any kind of publication like the one you're looking for, either by MYNA or MSA.

If it's possible, I'd love a copy of whatever you guys produce.  Maybe it can be incorporated into the next youth group packet.

wasalaam.

as-Salaamu 'Alaykum,
I know that back in the day (like 1994 or so) the MYNA Executive committee was talking about something very similar to this.  They were documenting guidelines and criterion for people who were (or would be) up for elected positions.
I'm not sure if that is still around or not...though I'm leaning towards not.
As for events that we are thinking of doing, we are thinking of doing a camp for the youth as the first camp/conference.  Since 99.9% of them have never attended camps/conferences before they don't know where to start in planning a camp.  So we're doing something small so they can get an idea and inshaa Allah go from there.
Thanks for the help, it is appreciated.

Take care,

     Zubaid Kazmi
